We have so far played 5 of the bottom six teams. Record P5 W1, L0, D4. This is so far from promotion form, we need to wake up and smell the coffee very quickly. No taking the positives, no still unbeaten, we have to get a lot better and quickly, or Danny will be out by Christmas.

To be fair, the overall record is very close to automatic promotion form.

And is certainly play off form......

Looks at the points per average, against what youd normally need for each one.

Danny probably won't last the season even if we start playing like Brazil circa 1970. When your Boss is deliberately and publicly undermining your integrity, you're on borrowed time.

Oh dear indeed, if you're starting to panic after 5 games when we're unbeaten then we've to issues...

We haven't even made it to october
We've not got a settled side yet
Back four look settled

Give it time

Go in the shoutbox and watch pommpey in full flow one game into the season. I didn't think such fickleness was humanly possible.

I rate this Back Four, plus LJF to come in. The concern is the lack of cover at Centre Half. Other than that, I've no problem with the defence.

hmm. In all honesty our current form doesnt bother me at the moment were still unbeaten for now and if we start winning by the end of the month well be up im sure of it. The only thing that concerns me is DW he has a history of second season disaster and his good work in his first season pittering out. The performance on saturday really fitted that bill. I know its early but i really think that our season is at a crucial cross roads we are either going to win on tuesday and then the saturday i get some momentum. Or were going to lose on tuesday and get another disappointing result we will of slipped into mid-table and danny will be on borrowed time.

Where the opposition are placed so early in the season is no indicator of where they'll end up.

It does worry (but not surprise) me that this thread and the "not good enough" thread both appear at this stage of the season. Surely we all know that this season is going to be a bloody difficult one. The squad/budget has been cut to a level that is sustainable but we will need time for the team to find its feet. We have a squad that lacks depth and experience because inevitably our bankable and better players have gone in the conomy drive. The team will make mistakes, but on the positive side we have some good young players commited to the club and seeking to improve. With luck and support this could be the start of a good era for United but if people are going to start moaning and calling for Wilson's head after every disappointment, god help us. I don't think we will challenge for promotion this season, I hope I am wrong but in any case I want to see solid growth and development and not sticking plaster and knee-jerk reactions. If things go well we could have really turned the corner by this time next year, if we are still struggling in the wilderness then that might be the time ask questions.

I realise that Wilson isn't everyone's cup of tea but for me, he hasn't done a lot wrong in very difficult circumstances. If you think the difficulties would go away by a change of manager I think there is something lacking in your analysis.

Care to expand on this Guesty please?

I have seen no public undermining of Wilson. Have I missed somat here?

I paraphrase, so forgive me.

Wilson: I can't play Montgomery and Cresswell for financial reasons.

McCabe: It's a myth that we can't play Montgomery and Cresswell for financial reasons.

I would hope that McCabe gave Wilson the authority to manage his playing staff budget. So in this case, both would be right.

On a positive note, I'm convinced we've got a 20+ goals per season man in Blackman - unfortunately I don't think that's going to happen alongside Cofie. I think he's too raw to deserve a start every week, and I'd be looking at giving one of the more experienced options tht role.

Agree mate - I actually thought Blackmans performance yesterday (given the circumstances) was actually pretty good and a stepping stone in the right direction. Given time and games I reckon we're gonna see even better out of him, but Cofie is deffo not his 'partner'. He really would benefit - IMHO - from having, for instance, a fully fit Kitson up with him...

Roll on Tues - UTB

Panicing already? 6 games in and we haven't lost. There are issues to be addressed but surely this time in the season that is to be expected. Based on your assumptions Yeovil were nailed on for promotion 3 games ago as were Swindon.

Long, long way to go and DW seems to be doing the right things at the right times. If we stay as we are everything will be alright. MK were the other team who were going to challenge us this season and I wonder if their fans are having a shoes off in the car park?

My main concern is that in the recent past when £££££`s were in the tin we couldn't hack it, so what's changed other than the tins empty?

So far Cofie is only lasting an hour or so. Therefore for me start Kitson let him get as far as he can.(must be able to get to half time at least) Then swap him for Cofie or Cressy. Cofie is far too raw to play alongside Blackman
