This report is total nonsense btw. Pure fiction. That's just another click bait site I'm afraid.

Why didn't you say so an hour a go? I've been reading through this thread gettin more and more excited then bang, fookin spoilsport

Robson decided Fathi wasn't good enough after a single appearance against Forest in a friendly (in which ironically he was the best player on the pitch). I knew then Robson would fail.

And he didn't give Kazim-Richards a chance either. Straight out the door

Someone said on here other day, not sure who, or what thread, but, that we were due to sign a current "international" player. Never said who or what nationality.

Can't find it now though.

I can understand the reluctance where foreign players are concerned, but surely it's based on ancient parochialism?

Football's a global game, and although our reach has recently consisted of a 2-300 mile radius, things will and must change. As with most transfers it's about judgement, and so far we've had a generally good to outstanding trade where this is concerned. I'm glad that we're extending our interest in players further than the UK, it shows that we're making an effort to steal a yard on other, less ambitious clubs. This may come to nothing of course, but it's refreshing that we're challenging the view that says 'leave foreign players alone'. I can recall a Greek fullback who did pretty well for the Blades, so let's be open minded where this is concerned.
AND a Greek centre half who went on to win the European Championships

Does anyone know how to read Egyptian because I have a feeling this player view from will be a nightmare #buybritishforroy

When we're in Europe in three years you'll have to seriously consider investing in a team of part time translators.

I played 5 aside football in Cairo once. Not many people who aren't Egyptian can say that!

On evidence of that 60 minutes... defending wasn't a strong point. My robust style, honed on such glamourous playing fields as Longley Park and Sky Edge, was something of a shock to them.

So on that basis, steer clear Wilder

Can't see language being a problem. We have had our share of Scottish, Welsh and Irish players and coped ok?

think it said Belgium or something like that, I saw it too :)

Carl Veart
Petr Katchouro
Shane Murphy
Luton Shelton
David Carney
Olivier Tébily
Traianos Dellas

The list is endless.

Not sure if that’s meant to be a list of successes. If so, I wouldn’t include Carney. But I would throw Marcelo, Nilsen and Donis (brief but decent) into the mix. Then there’s foreign players that were already playing in England such as Fjortoft.

If anyone epitomised the expression "heart of a pea", it was David Corney.

I would have thought those on the list would have made that obvious.

I guess not. Most were decent to good. Shelton was disappointing though his pace was of some use. Carney was poor. The rest are fairly fondly remembered I think.

Bomb Scare was rubbish. He was worse for Celtic and only became a player when Bruce re-signed him for Brum and used him as a midfielder. I have memories of Veart being rubbish as well. Katchouro couldn't hit a barn door in his last season (the sinking feeling when he was out only attacking option on the pitch against Palace in the play-off final). Shelton was all legs, no brain. Dellas never really played. Ditto Carney (thankful for the latter). Shane was ok.

Does anyone remember the Carney to Juventus? story? I think it was Juve. It was a huge team at the time.

I thought Tebily was decent and we made a quick profit on him. Wasn't it Bayern that were allegedly after Carney?

Brentford seemed to have quite a few very quick players and many of them looked and sounded foreign. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard the announcer introduce so many strange names during a match. Henrik Dalsgaard, Andreas Bellend, Flo Jozefzoon, Lasse Vibe, Kamo Mokotjo, Mylo Xyloto and Jota (pronounced "Otter" didn't give his first name, but I imagine it is "Tarka The")?

We need players like that. Players with strange sounding names, from faraway lands. Let's get some. It makes it more interesting. Especially when we sign some player who's been plying his trade on one of the Atolls in the South Pacific with bamboo cane for goalposts, and then some "expert" on here speaks with such authority about them..."good player - have known about him for a while - just what we need". :)
