bromton I'm happy with mid table as long as we keep the spirit up
Rodley I think we'll be lower mid table or mid table

Only blade too long has much reason to moan.

A few predicting 6th but I think that hearts were ruling heads if truth be told.

As for me, I'm happy with where we are but a win against Leeds will make me much happier.

I can admit to being one of those predicting 6th before we had kicked a ball.

And it was bourne of confidence in our squads abilty to adjust. Nothing more, nothing less.

I also said Wendy would get found out, Carlos would get the tin tack before Xmas and Coutts would prove himself to be one of the very best in the division.

:)

And that Leon would be this seasons cult hero, leading scorer and amongst the top in the division?

;)

In my view 6th and 8th are not a long way apart and there are still many games to go.

It's not time to go all negative and give up in 6th yet which is why I said that blade too long is the only one in a position to moan, and I'm not sure he was being entirely serious either ;)

I’m bang on at the minute. I’ve been gutted about results lately but to say it’s the first season back then no complaints, would be good to sneak a play off place tho :)

Thought 2nd could have been achieved but did add the caveat that thread wed have to be free of serious injury and have all our best players available. To lose Coutts and Freeman has been the big difference

No team can lose key players and maintain their best form

Oh.

And in his illustrious SU career, Golden Balls has scored in 6 of his 23 games last season and in 8 of his 27 this season.

My hero’s are capable of more than that !

You lower your standards if you must, this ladies standards are not for turning !

I agree Maidenhead I thought ( hoped ) for a promising mid table finish while taking a few of the ‘bigger’ scalps along the way who under esti are us , I think the run we had up to Oct obviously raised people’s expectations but the league is decided over 46 games not 15 . I try not to get too carried away when things are going well nor too down on the flip side .

A few on here have over reacted massively to yesterday and very quick on the keyboard of course were all disappointed , isn’t every Blade but the same people if we win 3 in row will be echoing out warnings how were back on the march .
A bit of perpective needed at times , a third of the season left & 48 points still up for grabs .

Chin up lads and get behind the lads instead of bickering between each other .

PS : I put Wolves & Fulham as the top 2 on that prediction & at the bookies might get a return on that one yet ?

I said mid table but I'd be happy with just staying up. When I got called out for my 'negativity' I explained that top six wasn't impossible but I was concerned that if people got their hopes up too much and we didn't achieve it, they could turn on Wilder.

Great post.

There are some like minded Blades out there :)

If you had offered me unbeaten against Leeds and Wednesday and finish above them both at the start of the season I'd have bitten your hand off.

With a bit of luck and a following wind that's now looking very likely.

I looked for when i predicted both sheffield clubs for play offs for the record. Looking at the quality that is going to be in the play offs right now then anything above 10 is doing remarkably well

I see the exact opposite, with respect. Most acknowledge yesterday was not season defining and wolves are too good. And nobody, again that I'm seeing, is suggesting 8th isn't good enough. I think this a narrative being peddled by those that want to play 'who's the bigger blades'. Overreaction to yesterday is devaluing those that have legitimate concerns about what's been happening in the last 14 or so games. And most that have attempted it have done so without any blunt force trauma.

I can't wrap my head around yesterday really. The reaction was completely unexpected for me.

The best case for me yesterday was a 0-0 for as long as possible, and if we got a penalty or cheeky goal I'd have been ecstatic. I said to everyone I know that Wolves doesn't matter, it's the games after, to be honest I'd have done a Stoke and rested people probably.

I couldn't complain about the first goal, or the second and really just didn't want to lose the record of never being walloped this season.

It's the only time this season I've not been disappointed by a negative result because I went in expecting it. Not to say I don't believe in the team. I think we can still get to the playoffs, but you've got to pick your battles.

I also don't think we were that bad, a bit forgettable but I think they're very good.

My prediction I'll stand by. It's the spirit that counts this season. If we keep that lads working together for the club and fans and enjoying it, we will always do well despite our limitations.

The run of late has been worrying, but we were low on people and couldn't change things from the bench. We got people in and since then our form has been pretty good. Won at Norwich, beat Preston in the cup, unlucky against Villa after a great performance for a lot of the game, and didn't get a hammering against the runaway leaders. I think we've turned a corner, just need a few more goals.

The season is 46 games long.

Taking 14 games in isolation is making the statistics fit an agenda.

The only time to properly judge is after 46 games when I think most people will agree that we have exceeded expectations.

I may be wrong in that but I'm not going to worry about, because the one lesson I learned in the many years I had a high pressure job, is that there is no point in wasting energy worrying about things that you can't influence.

I predicted 12th and I’ll be happy with anything above it and not moan if we’re too much below it but nobody can argue about how we’ve slipped away from a massive opportunity for keeping up with the top 2 and leading the way for a play off spot, still plenty of time anyway. We just need to pick up wins and quick or these play offs will be out of sight.

There's a reason that we've slipped away from the top 2, we're not good enough to be up there.

My beef is that most of us knew that at the start of the season but after a flying start some people seem to have lost their sense of proportion and are now viewing 8th place as some sort of failure.

The tide has turned for us once this season, and who knows it just may turn again and as a result we may end up in or around the top 6.

It is also possible that it doesn't turn again and we get relegated on 46 points but the time to moan is if we haven't met pre season expectations come May.
