Look's like a tough month, Charlton, Preston, Piggies and MK. After that lot we might have some idea how good we are.

Yep we were hanging on against a mediocre Tranmere today.

Its good that we have a good start to the season but we have seen nothing yet I reckon.

September isn't that much better! Scunny away, Hudders, Bury, Colchester, and a trip to Wycombe. Doesn't look like many easy games in the next 10.

Anyway, we haven't played anyone who is currently bottom half yet, and Brentford ('poor, really poor', I think they were called) are on our heels after another win. Speaking for myself, I didn't really expect us to mount a promotion charge this season, so I'm still thinking that only another 38 points to be safe from the double relegation, and take it from there...

Sorry all but when it comes to key month identification Swiss is the only show in town.

We hung on that much that their keeper celebrated the final whistle like they'd won the league.

True, fair point but I think the first 60 minutes against Walsall told all who were there alot about how good we are - ie not very good at all. This will remain the case until we get pace and athleticism into the side, and a new keeper.

Very true. Well done for pointing it out. The month where we can't hang our hopes on being the vital month is February. Too many games in a short space of time.

I'd say that October will tell us how good we are in big games, but aug and sept are key months to pick up big points, not because of the oppo, but Because we need to make a good start- all going to plan so far

Fitness is the key :)

The three goals we scored seem to indicate, using your own theory, that we were better than Walsall on Tuesday evening. The final score after the 90 minutes plus time picked purely at random to add on confirms this. More goals scored = 3 points = better.

I agree completely about the new keeper bit though. Simmonsen gets my heart beating like a trip hammer every time the ball comes near him. He seems like can't make up his mind to stick or twist.

Really? Not how I saw it. It was their goal keeper who was wasting time at the end and was delighted with the draw. We tried hard for the winner and if the ref had done his job properly and protected our players then we'd have got all three points.

Yeah we weren't hanging on at all. We were guilty of trying to kill the game at 1-0. I wish we'd carried on as we did first half but we didn't try to attack until they scored. Not cos we were pinned back. We weren't. They just weren't particularly threatening.

Let's not forget that we're their second biggest game after they let Wendy have their kop to accommodate the thronging masses from the biggest club in the country.

I do feel as though we really need to tighten up defensively and I'm afraid that a decent team (one such as Hudds, Charlton etc) may well get a few goals against us.

Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted with the start we've made but I have a feeling we may get a rude awakening sooner rather than later.

That's as may be, but they were far and away the better side from the 45 minute until the 80th. United struggled to be second best.

I dont see the point in pointing out we were put under the kosh for 40 minutes at an away game? So what? we took the lead and if Cressy had stayed stood up we would have probably won 0-2. We are undefeated and playing pretty well for the most part. Yes we have some tougher fixtures coming up, but if Charlton is as tough as it gets I am hardly scared. I am not saying we will beat everyone.................but we will.

Haha best comment ive seen. They were chuffed, literally chuffed to get a point at home against us. They werent that poor and yesterday we didnt look troubled until they equalised. Yes, there will be tougher tests ahead but did we honestly think this league would be a walk in the park seeing as we were sooo bad last season?

yes i think by the end of october once sheffield utd have played likes of Scunny, Huddersfield, Charlton, Preston, Wednesday and MK Dons. the league table will be 80/90% accurate of what it will be in may and if we can still be top 2 or 6 by end of october then id be bloody happy. but remember sheffield utd have relatively comfortable for most of the games and you can only beat whats in front of you

and also i expect sheffield utd to beat everton on tuesday

I'd rather be having a tough month against Leicester, Forest, Cardiff but so we are where we are and if we come through this well we might just get those fixtures back.

Yeah we have a chance against Everton since I will assume they are going to put their reserves out.

I'm thinking that we may well see a full strength Everton side on Weds night. The financial dirty laundry at Goodison has been aired now for all to see, Moyes must be thinking that a run in the League Cup and/or FA Cup would be one of his best routes to securing some transfer funds. No doubt Bill Kenwright will have told him the same.

yes but what im thinking is david moyes might be cautious as he doesn't has a big squad so what would happens if Moyes plays a full strength side & Jags, Cahill or arteta get injured & also if his first 11 plays the tiredness could affect the premier league form & suck him into a relegation battle. and he has no money to reinforce the team & can only rely on academy & 2 loans form premier league.

so i think he'll play a 1/2 stength side & go for a run in fa cup
