A role playing behind a centre forward would seem most likely to suit him - would stop him being offside so much and position him to benefit from knock backs, blocked shots. That would leave us very narrow unless we play a diamond system but I could see a diamond working, with Doyle or Monty at the back and Quinn /ANO on the edges. But that leaves no room for MacDonald, who is our most creative player. So do we sacrifice Him to compensate for Evans' development areas or fund another striker - decisions, decisions!!

MacDonald has to start every game from now on.

Porter was offside more times against Colchester than Evans will be in his entire career. Porter was born offside.

great post.. interesting points.. especially one .. we might as well play quinny in the middle.. as he ends up there anyway.. usually leaving a big gap on the left. might as well grasp the nettle??..
i agree that macdonald is currently our most effective player.. therefore we'd be better off playing some kind of 4 3 3 or 4312 with quinny in the hole?.. then you can have the maestro in it as well

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I have a suspicion that one of the problems with Evans' game is that he isn't very bright...

That seems to be the Keith Edwards verdict too.

I tend to agree re Ched's technical abilities, the bit he struggles with is situations where he has time to think about what he's going to do. Classic example on Saturday - poor free quick but the instinctive volley was excellent. Most of his goals this season have been reactive efforts - his free kicks, one on ones etc have mostly been poor.

Bit harsh when hes played 2.5 games.

Fair point but he doesn't look any different to how he did last year to me. I'll give him a few more games to get match sharp and then re-assess.
