Obscure players you probably don't rememember

Quite right! I was there aged 11 and remember the snow being piled up along the touchlines, the pitch was like a skating rink and as happened at home to Hereford on the opening day, we threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2.

Yep. Another highlight was the ref being knocked out cold by a well directed snowball from the Kop. This happened just after HT after the ref had sent off Paul Richardson just before the break. We were 1-0 up then through a Hatton goal and the (recovered) ref was then generous enough to give the ten men a penalty which Kenworthy scored. We then ran out of steam, Halifax got 2 late goals and in the end we were hanging on.

Someone who doesn't like him has edited his Wikipedia page....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Broddle

He was the year below me at school (Dinno) and was a decent lad. Best player in his year by far, but not a big head.

I thought he played okay in his only game for us and then never got another look in. Still Porterfield had some odd Jock ways of doing things.

Thanks D. Looks like Soccerbase is incorrect re Broddle. However the Wiki entry is pretty awful and unfair.
I wasn't sure whether it was an ex-partner doing it maliciously or one of his mates taking the piss. If one of my mates had a wiki entry I'd have to tamper with it.

Jack Lester, I suppose most Blades will undoubtedly remember him but I thought I'd just throw him in as an obscure player as no one ever seems to mention him!

Joined us after an unsuccessful trial with the Pigs and played a full season in 03/04 scoring a handful of goals.

Went to Forest after us.

He had quite a remarkable career.

He could have dropped off the face of the earth after leaving Forest for the second time but he joined Chesterfield at the age of 31 and went on to score 92 goals in all competitions for them.

There was a striker who knew how to win a penalty

Not many people know this.
So keep it hush-hush.

As a child, Young Lester played Oliver opposite Ron Moody as Fagan in the musical adaptation of Dicken's "Oliver Twist."
.
Shtumm, yeah?

He's also rumoured to be the biological father of Michael Jackson's kid, Paris.

I seem to recall back in the early Warnock days we seemed to start every other season with a temporary left back. Nicholas Weber one year, Terry Phelan another, and the one that Warnock went on a Dan Burn esque farce to try and sign Carl Serrant, who I don't think ever ended up playing a game.

Anders Jacobsen – we were expecting a typically strong, dominant Scandinavian centre-back, and instead we got Jacobsen.

Jon O'Connor – part of the Ward deal wasn't it? Or one of the other Everton deals we did. Played a handful of games.

Li Tie – often forgotten we bought him for the Premier League season.

Phil Barnes

Understudy to Kenny in 2004/5 and played one game at home to Rotherham in a 1-0 win.

Tommy Johnson also made his only appearance for us in that game.

Earl Barrett
Tony Battersby
Scott Fitzgerald
Steve Hawes
Des Hamilton
James Thomas
Jean-Manuel Thetis (or did I dream this one?)
Andy Woodward
and the very tasty (sorry) Benoit Croissant
Last but by no means yeast ? :)

Phil Jones
Paul Smith.
Steve Ludlam

Didn't he play in a League Cup game too, or was that Alan Fettis?
