Theres one thing that hasn't been mentioned about Simonsen.

He was once a pretty good keeper. I know Everton and Stoke fans who thought he should have been 1st choice, and said he was always solid. Theres no denying he's terrible at the minute, football players change over time - for endless reasons. I'm not saying he might hit form again or anything, but its understandable to see why Wilson might not have initially thought to urgently replace him.

Trying to twist some current failings we currently have in to a reason to pin blame on to Wilson is completely immature.

Immature? Sticks and stones?

You make good point in the fact thta he has been a good keeper. You completely miss the point that we've had ooodles of warning that something's not right.

If there's any defence, it's probably that we're just destitute after paying woeful players like Evans £1M per year. But let's not pretend that this weakness has just dropped on us.

I can only presume, being Kent based, you don't see a lot of us these days.

You ask a question Judgey boy, I answer it and then you call me a Wendy fan. Cheers, great thinking Judgey.

3rd weekend running we have thrown it away......thats 6 points blown away.....we could be pushing Charlton...the truth is that the Blackpool boys are keeping us up there and Wilson has done well to bring them in BUT thats all he has done well...the defence is shocking and our central midfield is poor.....
maybe we are all thinking of better days but really Wilson should be sorting this out.....4 goals conceded to flamin Exeter!!!shocking

Yes its disappointing giving up a lead, and it sometimes feels like a loss, but its not a loss
Ive watched us get promoted 8 times, and div 4 title season apart weve had drawn games a plenty , lost leads had blips

The season we got in the prem we had february horriblus , when we lost 1-4 at home to watford lost 2 others

As that great sage and MrJones said "dont panic Mr Mainwaring"

We once got promoted partly due to a Keith Edwards consolation goal at Bolton turning a 3-0 into 3-1 and was enought to make burnley need a 3-0 win in their last game and they only got 2

In the promotion to the prem season a last minute goal at Reading meant our first loss,a killer blow, not at all as it turned out

Got behind their side, stayed with em, saw their side dominate for long sections against the neighbours, very unlucky to be 2 down, went completely mental when they scored realising the importance of it in terms of city pride and promotion hopes, 10k odd turned up at Hillsboro to watch and all in all a feeling that they have maybe turned the corner after 12 or so years of outright misery. Other than that nowt Judgey my old mate.

Are you somehow denying that Wendy are improving from a ridiculous low point of last season? Equally, are you denying that we are on a slippery slope of decline?

Werdnesday could only improve after fading so badly last season, had united not been relegated I reckon GINGE BOY would be history

Conceding 4 to Exeter, yes not nice , but lets not lose sight they did the double over Wednesday last season and are on a run just now so arent totally useless, our defence is still the one area with key players missing or needed,
Lets look at it as a highly entertaining game , was for me , and had as many plus points as annoying minus points

It is immature to just blame Wilson, or perhaps naive is a more appropriate word. Were scoring goals under Wilson, and from what i've seen and heard look much more of a unit than last season, but our weakness is our defense. You're right about Evans, but I think you underestimate just how restrained Wilson is likely to be by finances. I imagine Simonsen, with a fairly illustrious past (for a Div 3 player), is on a relatively big wage himself. Our only backup is Long, so the only option is to sell Simonsen to free up wage space and potentially sign a poorer keeper or sign a better keeper and potentially fail to offload Simonsen, leaving us in bigger trouble.

Defensively its tough. I get the feeling Wilson was briefed to develop players like Maguire/Lowton in the first team - as long as we have the 'project youth' ethic, we'll have to go through a shaky phase. Not that im criticising the youth approach, thats just a by product of letting them learn from their mistakes. Arguably this is a better league to start it.

And finally no, I don't get to many games anymore - Stevenage next week will be my first this season. Its 2011, though, and with the amount of coverage the sport gets by the media, anyone has the resources to form a pretty thorough opinion.

last season going 2-0 down would have meant we,d lost

the fact we can now be upset we only got a point I think shows hes given the club something back , its never say die attitude
yes we miss a Morgan type commander of men, theres some wrinkles to iron out, but we are unbeaten in 5 now, scoring goals , playing nice stuff and to be fair Im enjoying being at games again
Its I think its what they call entertaining

Good post. I'm fully behind Wilson and accept the constraints he has. But remember, we've just loaned 2 lads up front. We've signed McDonald, Flynn, JFL and Porter. We have had money and the fact is, he's made a mistake in not targeting some of that resource on a new keeper. As I've said, we've had 1 and 1/2 season's of incompetence there now. Enough, surely.

Both good and bad managers make mistakes. I'm not sure which camp Wilson fits into yet. I'm sure he's made a mistake here.

No Sheffield United fan would ever think about writing that even if it was true. You seem to have a photographic memory of Wendys past ,and are always bulling them up whilst also wallowing in what you see as Utds perceived misery.

Agree. A disgrace for a so called Blade to post such Pork-tinted drivel. You'd think they had won the Champions League, not got a draw against their League 1 rivals.

Photographic memory needed to say Wendy have endured misery over last 12 years? Don't think so Sitwell. Really do not understand what the problem is with my original comment about Wendy having a new found confidence but it does seem to get to you for some reason.

Fair enough Deano but I was asked a question about why I think Wendy have found a bit of confidence. I answered it. I don't just dream it up.

I’ve got to step in and back Mic up on this one. It doesn’t need Pork tinted glasses to see that Wednesday have been shite for the last 10-15 years. Sure some of us remember the details better than others. I do because I have used the detail to rip the p out of so many arrogant, cocky and generally deluded pig fans (that I chose to call mates) in this time. Quite simply they have been the laughing stock and still are.

They have done nothing to be proud of in recent times and to think they came super close to going into Admin, before Mandaric came in and save them from the scrap heap then in relative terms they have done alright.

But as for a comparison between us and them, please, don’t make me laugh. They’ve been above us for a matter of games and will no doubt stumble into the Play off’s come May 2012.

It’s good that they are up above us at the moment as it might actually make some of the powers at the Lane step up and start acting to ensure that we have the right resources to get us back above them in January.

Right now both sides are shite and we’re marginally better. They haven’t come up to our level, we’ve sunk to theirs and we’d be splitting hairs if we were to make a pissing contest out of this.

Top stuff Swiss.

The key is momentum. 12 months ago they were days/hours/minutes from administration and we were bimbling around the lower reaches of the Championship. They've cast off their shackles, but hey, ours sadly remain.

But you are not backing Mic up - you are saying something completely different. He was bigging them up in ludicrously exaggereated terms (hence my use of the term Pork tinted) whereas you make a balanced assessment that I agree with.

But they haven't really cast off their shackles have they? They still can't exactly splash the cash and are scrambling around for players just like us.

I'd even argue that we're a more attractive club to come to based on the perception that we like to (try) and play football now and how we are bringing the Academy players through. Wednesday have no Academy to speak of.

Not necessarily backing his spin on things, but I am backing him as I know he is a Blade and I also have a similar memory to his of the Wednesday demise

Yes they have, the fact that they can sign players at all is testament to that. Whilst they're not minted, the debt that was dragging them down is gone and they are in a position to trade in relation to their income rather than just tipping it down a black hole. If both clubs flatlined for the next 18 months, which do you think would be in the deeper do-do?

Ludicrously exaggerated? I said 'the feeling that they have maybe turned the corner' as a reason why wendy fans seem alot more bouyant and confident than they have been for a while.

Where is that bigging them up. I have previously said they have great away support so maybe that is bigging em up but for me it's just a simple fact.

Cheers but how on earth or we marginally better than Wendy at the moment?

We too can sign players (quality aside), both teams are signing players.
Who would be in the deeper shite? Good question. Probably the team that overspent above their means... So it could be either or neither.

How are we marginally worse?

Which pig players , management ,chairman, employees ,ground ,training facililties ,junior set up , location anything would you swap for ours ?
Not fucking one me ,wait until Mandaric finds a new toy ,they will be so far down shit street you couldn't post them a paddle.

Spot on. Although I would maybe take a keeper

Is Weaver better than Simmo ? jimmy Hagans statue has more movement than Madine ,would rather have Clarke ,Porter or Evans.

Not according to the leading goal scorers table, sadly.
