Before we go high-fiving too much on the fun and games in S6, there is one note of caution.
Bruce is an English manager. He's more likely to sign English based players he knows than some foreign import.
He's just spent 6 months in the Championship.
Newcastle had just sold Perez for 30m.
It wouldn't be a huge leap to suggest he may well consider McBurnie or Maupay as decent acquisitions for his new club, if the move comes about.
I do hope we can get one of these over the line, if not both before such a move takes place.
Newcastle will not spend huge, so someone within the 10-20m range when you've offloaded for 30m would seem to be a common sense type move.
Let's wait and see but there could be an impact to us. Same with if Maxi Lopez' deal to West Ham falls through.
I'll be glad when the striker deals are done. But let's not think the football merry go round won't impact us.
For them lot, it might work out. Get decent compensation which takes you out of embargo. Appoint a decent manager who is unattached and start again. It's not as if the team has Bruce's name all over it. He's signed one German centre back and the lad from Wolves. That's all.
Hughton, Karanka (did well at Boro), Monk (well received by Brum fans), Pullis (had a decent career really), Adkins (I know! But did ok at Hull), O'Neill (not given time at Forest but done well before), Keane (did ok at Sunderland) all available. Each have had recent periods of doing ok at Champ level. It might turn out ok for them despite the short term stress.
Lose Bruce, pocket some cash, come out of embargo, get decent new manager, see Bruce snap up Blades targets.
The show would be on the other foot a little then.
Of course if we announce Maupay by the weekend then be as smug as you like!
