Don't know how we managed to lose that one in the end. Bristol City looked only slightly more interested than we did first half, yet we still conspired to absolutely gift them a goal. One touch passing from the centre circle, we all stand and watch and when the keeper makes a good stop we have five or six players rooted like statues while their player shins a soft shot from distance into the empty net. They missed another absolute sitter before half time and you feared the worst.
Second half we were excellent, apart from the finishing. We knocked the ball about, we dragged them all over the shop and to be honest, had we scored three or four it wouldn't have flattered us. Bamford had his boots on the wrong feet, any headers that we had were weak or off target and despite battering the shit out of them, we still come away with no points.
Tanganga and McGuiness were very good, Seriki and Brooks a threat and Gus scared them to death when he came on. Peck played some sweet passes, as well as running through brick walls and was easily man of the match for me. Why can't we play like that all of the time?
Special mention for the referee who had a huge impact on the game. He bottled every single big decision, starting with the red card, and he got worse as the game went on. Not suggesting any bias whatsoever, just that he didn't know what he was doing and had he called the pulling and pushing in the box as he should have, we'd have had two or three penalties. All over the pitch, he got it wrong andI hate VAR but if we'd had it today they'd have subbed the ref after an hour as he was so bad.
In summary, first half was fucking dire, second half we were great, same old disappointment though. Happy Easter, it's hard work being a Blade sometimes.
