Not good enough

Berge one of best players on the pitch. Max showing promise and some classy touches by completely unserviced Brewster. Playing like we did against Liverpool good enough to beat most bottom third teams .our future holds Fleck, mousset coming back, Osborne, Boyd, Lowe, Brewster gelling into the team and massive confidence boost by a couple of wins. Surprising that confidence isn't worse after 1 point from 30. I'm looking for positives not just clapping mindlessly and the truth is there are some. We are not Norwich with embarrassing performances every week. Onwards.

there’s plenty of negative posts on here,
They are not negative posts they are the viewpoints of posters feelings and observations.
Negative posts would be us playing well and winning but someone then criticising the performance.
Feel sorry for Wilder he has run out of spin and reverted to wining about playing £1bn teams. He looks visibly shaken after something like 1 point from 27, we all applaud and make realistic complementary comments when it’s 10 points from 12 so it naturally follows we can make less complementary comments for a poor run. Doesn’t mean it’s ‘negative‘ or that anyone has posted to get rid of him (can’t recall a single sack Wilder post) , but he is accountable and today was gutless from players and management.
It makes no one less a a blade, it makes no one a porker, it doesn’t warrant personal abuse, it’s what Wilder instilled in us all passhun that both him and the players are lacking.

Is wilder losing the dressing room?
There is zero evidence to suggest wilder is losing the dressing room. Yes we are losing games and are not doing any of the things that made us successful last season, but to suggest the players are not putting the effort in for the manager is a long way wide of the mark.

Maybe we need to go with a 442 diamond? We’re not really overlapping any more, so the formation then becomes useless as we are only committing 3/4 players to any attack.

Playing a diamond could allow us to still use the wing backs to get forward, dropping the DM from the diamond, into the back two, if necessary (Ampadu could do this role). The two in the middle can support attacks out on their respective sides of the field. Attacking midfielder can help us link up and keep the call up top.

Could go with something like this.

——————Ramsdale—————-
Baldock——Bash——-Egan——Stevens
———————Ampadu——————
————-Berge————Fleck————
————————Didsy———————
————McBurnie—-Brewster————

Brewster was never worth the £fee + he was not the answer to our deficiencies.
Our signings since promotion to the PL , excepting Berge & Ramsdale , are what will relegate us.
A lesson in how £100m can be wasted.
History repeating isn’t it, Warnock did the same when he went mad and signed Nade, Egyptian-guy and the rest....

I don't think he'll go to 4 at the back. We've basically got 4 wingbacks and 1 who can probably do a job as a FB and still get forward at this level.

I'd like to see us play with two holding midfielders, but release the wingbacks. We don't have midfielders good enough to create and score enough without predominantly using the wings.

I think we'll struggle to regularly start two out and out strikers whatever the formation.

Berge and Ramsdale were also written off after a two or three of games by our resident ‘experts’. That’s all it takes to let them settle into a new team and make the judgement is it? Don’t these people ever sit back for a minute and think to themselves how stupid their comments are. We could buy the best player in the world and there’s no guarantee that he’d hit the ground running after moving to a new club and relocating.

Brewster’s had two starts in the Premiership against Liverpool and Man City, 2 of the best teams in Europe if not the world. Did some really think he’d have a chance to settle in and shine already against that level of opposition? What on earth did they expect of him? To run around at 90 miles an hour like Burke or act as a battering ram like McBurnie? Yeah, well done to them and the same goes for McGoldrick, but the problem is we don’t really expect any of these ‘strikers’ to score many goals do we?

We bought Brewster for his goal scoring ability, pure and simple and many genuine experts in the game think he’s a natural. Would Sharp or Keith Edwards at their best have shown much more in these last 2 games? I doubt it. Let’s cut the lad some slack and address the real problem which is players faffing around with the ball when we’re in decent positions. Get the ball to him in the right areas and judge him from there, the last thing we want is yet another striker who does everything in the book but strike.

There have been plenty of negative posts, most of them angry, because we are not scoring, not winning, or picking up points like we did last year. You might see them as viewpoints or observations, but many of them are just negative.
If you want to vent your feelings, maybe post on mumsnet. Angry observations with no reasoning or constructive points are worthless.
I will not post examples, because they are bitter and angry reactions, usually posted close to the end of a game.
I have just read posts on this thread, bemoaning a lack of an attacking midfielder and, not so long ago, screaming why we didn’t buy a striker because we lack goals. Brewster has already been the subject of negative posts but has played less than two games and had no service.
People with 20/20 hindsight asking why we didn’t buy back up for JOC?
People moaned about Robbo before he went to West Brom, and Burke, (a striker) came the other way.
A limited budget can’t possibly meet the need for world class replacements when it all goes tits up.
How long before fans start complaining about the wages JOC, Moose and Fleck are picking up while injured and unavailable?
What happens when the ever reliable Chris Basham gets run over by a bus? Blame Wilder.?
Next time you want to have a go at my post, copy the whole post, just to put things in context. I understand there are strong feelings from our supporters, but my whole post explains why I think that while people are entitled to make a point, it should be done constructively. Saying we were shit, or player x is not good enough, is not very constructive is it?
Get angry, by all means, have a go if you’re pissed off, just don’t post shite without backing it up with reasoning and logic.
Rant over.

The issue wilder has with the squad we have assembled is there is nothing we can do to change things up. all we can do to try and reverse our fortunes is rotate between our forward players.

If the formation is not working we have basically no options to change things up.

we have a squad with

Zero - attacking midfielders
Zero - wide forwards
Zero - wingers

We can’t really switch formations to any other shape. 4-4-2 wouldn’t work, 4-3-3 doesn’t work we, we deffo can’t play 4-2-3-1.

the squad is MASSIVELY unbalanced with 6 strikers / forwards and the essentially defensive minded midfielders, defenders and fullbacks. There’s nowt else we can do, if this doesn’t work.

Yes I know we have played some good teams and had some bad luck but we are unable to put the ball in the net. If we don’t do that we can’t keep clean sheets, we aren’t going to pick up enough points

The Blades played really well against man city.however same old problem missed chances. Sir Chris must keep Brewster in the starting eleven.however.
In my opinion, Mcburinie does not look good enough.so try Burke if that does not work try Billy. Lungstrum should not be in the first-team squad.
He wants to leave why pick him.in 8 weeks the transfer market will be open. we need a centre half and another centre forward. not cheap and not easy to getFinger crossed we start to pick up points before then of course.

Well that rant was all pretttttty negative.

So by your reckoning because a poster reduces several paragraphs of technical analysis trying to determine why we have won 1 point out of 27 to “we were shit” they are negative? They may not have your eloquence or command of the English language. They may not think saying we were very unfortunate and we played extremely well yesterday is relevant after we played shit but it’s their opinion. Yours is obviously blind faith backed up with rose tinted glasses and lacks individual thought and an analytical objectiveness that their “played shit” comment conveys. Think it’s you that belongs ont Mums Net.

Nah that’s me a in a go at your post ;)

What I fail to see is how some on here think that posting negative foulmouthed rants about individual player or the management is going to make the slightest difference to how we play ?
All it can possibly do is cause silly pointless arguments and prove the truth in my old nursery's moto -

WHERE IGNORANCE PREDOMINATES VULGARITY INVARIABLY ASSERTS IT:S SELF....
'

The names Benny and I'm here all week........

Keith Edwards always said a striker can only make one run in the box. So, you start from the edge of the box, cut across the defence, head to the near post to anticipate a cross that does not come. So, you start to backtrack as (at least in the Man City game) a 'cross' sails three feet over your head.

We need to mix it up, some early crosses, some low and some actual crosses that someone might head.

After Baldock's performance it would be worth trying Bogle, but our approach must change.

I would put McBurnie where you have Didsy, and Burke along side Brewster, other than that i agree a 4-4-2 diamond is the way forward.

Except tennis ;)
Not sure what you mean cos how many matches are won 3 sets to 2 after being 2 sets & sometimes match point down. Also the players capable of these comebacks are just mental & physical animals & have what it takes to be legends ie Samprass, Mackenro, Federer, kjockevic. Nadal, Boris.

Unfortunately: NOT Andy Murray.

The most heartbreaking case of momentum for me: Jimmy White losing the 1992 world final 18 - 14 to Stephen Hendry after leading 14 - 8 during the afternoon. Hendry took 10 5punking frames on the trot. Gutted

Is our finishing that bad though ?

Most top class strikers in top class teams get 3 or 4 chances per game.

That's knocking on 160 per season

If they convert 20 of them they're world class, that's a one in eight ratio.

Now take ours who get next to nothing

They'd have to play a dozen games before even one of them got eight decent goalscoring chances
