Not good enough

Five or six excellent balls in today that weren't attacked by the strikers, as well as a couple of really good chances. Would've taken that before kick off. I was disappointed with the output from the full backs Big issue first half was not engaging the City players physically. Osborn, Ampadu and Baldock were the big disappointments today.

Indeed. Just when you thought the season couldn't get any lower... Kyle Walker smashes the winner. I'm devastated. Not quite David Unsworth devastated. But yeah that hurt and you could see it happening when the ball came to him. Quite a lot of goals we've conceded have been so obvious.

Why does it look like United are running in custard? No umph! Common theme so far.

Does anyone else get really annoyed when the team gets into a good position, then inexplicably play the ball all the way back to the centre half who then hoofs it and we lose the 2nd ball. Poor old Basham ends up a lot of time running forward for no reason, for him to jog back and somehow get back in time to make tackles.

One player that still really stands out is Berge. Imo I think he's too good for us.

I'm not really sure how we only lost by one goal, Ramsdale with his unorthodox goalkeeping saved us in truth. Overall the match wasn't BAD for the whole 35% of the possession we had, most of the time was spent passing from one defender to another. I was kind of thinking as the match approached 90 mins that if we score I'm gonna be a bit annoyed anyway, as they would have spent the entirety of the match for ONE clinical attack... Why not play like that when we go a goal down? Or even from the first whistle? For all the attacking and crosses we do on both wings, someone seriously needs to get beyond that far post... never anyone there.
I agree with most of that but ‘Devastated’ to lose to Man City. I was devastated when we lost to Walsall at home but to City, come on.

Mate. There’s optimism and then there’s wilful ignorance

Please do tell me what I have been wilfully ignorant about?

Do you see me saying that was an amazing performance? No I'm saying try to look at the positives, or are you too ignorant to be able to do that?

Ummm, not so much that we lost to Man City as such. More the Walker sucker punch and the fact it was 1-0 and we were teased into thinking we can get something from this.

Spot on with the big disappointments but I don’t think the forwards had anywhere near enough service. Probably 3/4 decent crosses/passes all the game into the box, we either don’t cross or the crosses are crap, thats our main weakness right now. (IMO)

We played today more or less the same way as we did against City home and away last season and v Liverpool away last season even with the fans and we were playing well. We only really gave it a go v Liverpool at home. It’s how we respond against the ‘lesser’ teams that’ll define our season, not world class teams.
Fulham gave us a bit of a run around.I'm not hopefull, we dont have the inner belief anymore that we can beat anyone in this division.

Well Chelsea were the last team we beat, can see Lampard wanting to scalp Wilder this time,he's had enough of us.

Oreyt Gray 👍

Here's a thought... how about we try and play it to the feet of one of our strikers, rather than just robotically playing it out wide and messing around with it before delivering a crap cross LOL

Firstly, you literally said at times the performance was ‘amazing’. You’re being ignorant to the completely valid criticisms all but the blind can see:
  • Pace of our play is far too slow
  • We either play safe, slow, backwards or sideways or lump it to McBurnie.
  • We don’t shoot enough
  • We don’t hit the target enough
  • We have built a system based on overloading the wings. Yet we don’t overload any more.
  • We rely on defenders to create 95% of our chances
  • We NEVER try to create centrally
  • We have zero flair or magic in our team (I love Berge though)
  • Our recruitment strategy has been bizarre and we’ve wasted a lot of money
  • We’re seemingly conceding games before a ball is kicked.
  • Wilder is putting work rate over creativity when in years gone by he said working hard was the minimum.
  • We have no Plan B.
  • The number 10 was as important to our system as overloading centre backs and it’s been completely ditched.
  • Wilder is risking squad cohesion by continuing to involve Lundstram, but he won’t be told.
  • I remember when Wilder used to be furious after a loss (Hull away), now its Warnock-style excuses and distraction tactics bleating on about opposition price tags.

So it’s not just a grumble after a few defeats. The stats show we are an abysmal attacking side. The foundations we have built up over 3 years, after spending a decade asleep, are almost deliberately being ripped to shreds.

I think you have just about summed it up.

All Wilder is proving at the minute is that he isn't good with money.

This transfer window was meant to improve the squad and we haven't.
So the signings we made this window made our squad poorer than last year?

Can't argue with any of that. Unfortunately 😩

Oh so you must have missed Sander skipping past a few players, us moving the ball about well and getting into good positions?

Did I say we played amazing all game? Noooo I didn't 😐 I said at times we played amazing, I'm not ignoring those things, if you read what I put on the match thread after the game you will see exactly what I have said.

Don't go calling people ignorant when you can't even be bothered to try and understand what that person is trying to say 😐

Stop being ignorant to the facts at hand, the injuries, the new players bedding in, the fact we played the most expensive team in the league, the fact we are hardly in the season.

Calm your knickers and show some respect to Wilder, or do you think he is a fucking idiot who doesn't see what we see?

Skipping over the majority of what i said. I’ll leave there mate, we have a different viewpoint.

Oreyt pal👍

A win and the confidence that it will bring is a wonderful thing. I‘ll keep my powder dry until we’ve got this monkey off our backs. Let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later though. ⚔️
