Fair enough. Clearly a patient passing style isn't for everyone. I happen to think that waiting for a good shooting or crossing opportunity allows a squad of relatively limited players to overachieve at this level. The evidence is pretty clear--we're one of the best attacking teams in the division.

No its not but we play a fast paced passing style which is a lot more exciting to watch but we need to do better in the final third.
As i have said our style of play means we will always concede goals so we need to score more to win games and that evidence is even clearer.

You agreed with the poster who said we're dull and claimed we're easy to defend against. I disagree with the first point and the second is clearly wrong. If you've now changed your point to say we need to score more and concede less to win more games, then it's hard to disagree.

Yes we're not top 6 material but the main reason is not a lack of money nor pace but the way we play.

We haven't a clue how to play attacking football in the final third. Its slow and as dull as dishwater at home week in week out but management keep setting us up the same way and don't seem to learn.
If we had a speciality coach to coach the forwards / midfield in quick attacking play we could do much better with the current squad.
Check out WBA's two goals, they got the ball quickly to around the penalty spot on the deck for a forward to have a shot while our defenders haven't had time to get into position.
We don't do this and its not good enough for top 6 just good enough to wear down lower table teams until they die of boredom and give in.

I agree it has become a bit boring and predictable, even though it's good to watch.

In your opinion, in mine i totally agree. We get to the byline and dont cross the ball , we are within shooting distance and dont shoot. We get the ball forward really well but in the final third we just pass the ball to death and its easy to defend against. All this has to be Wilders fault because if the players are told to shoot or put in early crosses , and dont they would be dropped.
On top of this wilder has never learned how to overcome a team who park the bus ,ie Wendy, the games at home this season and last were like groundhog day.
So instead of grinding out the bargain basement players excuse, which i believe is an affront to the players who have improved and stepped up to this level, is it not time to ask if Wilder has gone as far as he can ?
This by the way is not an attack on Wilder and i do hope he can take us further, but he is not beyond criticism .

Dont agree with the dull bit as ive said i love the style of play up to the final third where it becomes predictable and frustrating .
When your wing backs get to the byline and decide to pass backwards instead of whipping in a quick cross, this gives the defending team time to face up and defend on the front foot which is easier than facng your own goal trying to defend a cross.
As for conceeding less i think we would have to change our style of play and not allow our defenders to attack as much which i would not like to see.

I just don't think Stevens and Baldock are good enough to do those crosses; our strikers aren't good enough at losing their man; our midfielders aren't good enough at making late runs into the box, and we'd end up losing the ball more often than not.

If Baldock and Stevens were allowed to cross more often and practiced in training they would get better. As for strikers not losing markers in the box watch Billy next time , he's a master of it and just needs better service.
Our players are a lot better than you , others and our manager give them credit for.

I don't know what to tell you. The teams who have scored more than us have the likes of Tammy Abraham, Dwight Gayle, and James Rodriguez. If you can get a squad with our resources out scoring them then you're not a manager, you're a miracle worker.

He would be god !!!!! Getting a load of inconsisent freebies to outperform the super clubs with top name players every week ! Its worrying our fans have such little actual football knowledge. YOU CANT MAKE A SILK PURSE OUT OF A SOWS EAR . We aren't Man City for crying out loud !!!!
