The game against Brentford is game 37, and therefore the cut off point for a 2 game ban for 10 yellows, Norwood being the only one who could still get caught by it. Could go a few ways.

Plays and gets booked. He's then missing for Leeds away and Bristol City at home.

Plays and doesn't get booked. Hopefully plays all three barring injury, happy days.

Rested. 'Self-imposed' 1 game ban, then back in for the other two.

One slight loophole if he can do it without being too obvious like Ramos, if he does play tomorrow and gets booked, a second yellow would see him get just a 1 game ban rather than 2. Of course we'll go on to win promotion on GD before being deducted a point for this incident.

If it was me I'd rest him tomorrow. I know some might say put your strongest team out at every opportunity and not to be complacent with Brentford, but we could really do with him for the other 2 games, and I'd like to think Couttsy can step in without too much disruption.

Not a bad suggestion that tbh. Start with Coutts and see if we can beat them without him. Put him on the bench and bring him on if needed.

That just shows up the obsurdity of the rules. One yellow against Brentford = a two game ban. While two yellows in the same game, results in a one game ban.

Play the best team v Brentford - if we don't get 3 points tomorrow then we may be 5 points behind Leeds by the time we go to Elland Road which means automatic promotion is out of our hands even if we were to win there.

He's also just played every minute of two derbies (plus WBA away) without getting booked and it didn't exactly look like he was playing with the handbrake on.

Play him every game we can, he's been a booking away for the last 3 and after every game we have said this same stuff. He has played two derbies and an away game without being booked, and doesn't look like hes pulled out of anything.

Take your point, but he did get booked in the 4-0 against Reading so it could come against anyone really.

I think Wilder will start him to be fair, just my weird way of looking at it is having him definitely miss 1 game to not risk missing 2.

Play him against Brentford. He was picking up bookings at a rate of knots and seems to have slowed that down by playing a bit more sensibly. No reason he can't continue to be sensible against Brentford. You can understand a propensity for getting yellows among defenders and defensively-minded players. But getting booked doesn't need to be a part of Norwood's game.

Too right. People seem to forget that we get 3 points for beating Brentford the same as we’d get against Leeds.

Absolutely nothing against Norwood, who has been excellent.

But I am a big fan of Coutts, and still believe he has much to offer.

As long as he has been at it in training, I see no reason why we should risk losing Norwood for 2 of our remaining 9 games, and that Coutts SHOULD start.

Norwood can replace him if necessary after about 60 mins.

We must play Norwood if we are to beat these footballng wise.

If I was CWAK I would just tie a rope around his feet and hands. He would still probably be able to put in excellent passes, crosses and corners.

He'll be ok just as long as he doesn't headbutt anyone. :p

Both are important for the 3 points. There is a difference though the game against weeds is a 6 pointer you get the 3 points but you also take 3 points from them.

Concentrate on what's in front of us and with a bit of luck he'll play both games anyway.

I don’t see coutts starting another game for us, at least this season. If Norwood is rested I see Basham in midfield and cranie at the back. I just don’t see them giving him his first league start. He’s doesn’t even regularly come on as sub

Start with Norwood. If we are cruising at 2-0 bring him off.

You play your best team and get the three points. If Wilder was going to play Coutts, I think he would've got more game time in the recent home games - particularly when we we were well in control in the games. He could have slotted back into his role next to Fleck to see if it still worked. Coutts has been notable in his absence.

Just hope that the ref doesn`t make a mistake by reading a situation wrong, seeing as we can`t appeal yellow cards. He would be a big miss against Leeds & Bristol City. I would be tempted to rest him, but, thankfully for United, I`m not the manager.

Play the best team tomorrow. There a very good team and if we fail to win tomorrow the Leeds game may be pointless anyway.
Hopefully we can get 2-0 up and then swap him for coutts

So people keep saying, but if we lose against Brentford we’ll be miles behind Leeds anyway.

We only really get bookings if we’re chasing the game or playing shite.

Best team and introduce Coutts (if he’s near) on 70 mins if a) we are 2 up and b) Norwood hasn’t been booked.

Beating Leeds with a full strength, full rested team will still be very hard, even if we play to our max. Whereas we should have enough to beat these full strength if we play to our max.

What is interesting is that we’ve not seen anyone eased into games recently in the event Norwood does get booked. Consequently, I think it is now the area we are weakest in terms of cover.

The players will know he can’t make a risky challenge or take one for the team so should protect against that. If they are about to break 3 v 1 in the last 5 mins and we are 1-0 up, does he take one ? Or risk the equaliser !

It’s why I’d put McGoldrick in the 10 role as he’ll track back and put challenges in more the Duffy and Dowell.

Having watched Coutts start at Forest and at home to Barnet and also against SWFC reserves; there would be a major drop off if Norwood is replaced by Coutts.

Coutts has done ok in limited minutes when he comes on but has not influenced games when he has started.

He has to start - if he gets booked so be it. As others have said if we lose tomorrow we would be 5 pts behind anyway and need to have better than Leeds in 2 of the last 9 games which is a big ask.

Briinging Norwood on at 60 mins no good if we are say 2-0 down

Most of Norwood's bookings have been taking one for the team. He's clever enough to know when to do it so he's clever enough to realise when he can't and shouldn't do it. That's the way he has played the last three games.

I'm sure he'll play tomorrow night and will not make a silly foul to take one for the team.

I think this is far more likely (if, and it's a big if, Norwood isn't selected).

Hmmmmm. Yes and no. He's had a few niggly and unnecessary cards, for me.

May I suggest you study football, and especially its history, a little more closely?

I’m intrigued by all the ‘play the best team’ exhortations. Some of you making this suggestion will have in mind significantly different teams. There’s a conundrum...
