So it seems!

Two players from from Norway, 18 and 19 have verbally agreed to join us it seems.

Google translation:

Teens Erik Barrel (19) and Chris Lkberg (18) is on its way into English football and Sheffield United.

Christmas Eve wrote Adresseavisen that Strindheim players were wanted by the club championship. Strindheim agreed with Sheffield United on a transfer of 400 000 per player - despite the fact that the rules for training compensation for Norwegian players for England indicated that Sheffield United had to come out with more than 1.5 million for each of the players.

Oral Agreement
The transition to Lkberg was no problem, all the time he has played in Strindheim entire career. Barrel, however, has been in Nardo and Rosenborg in addition - and an additional requirement from Rosenborg made the transition negotiations dragged on into the future.

Now you see it all, however, seemed to go fine.

- We have been in a good dialogue with Sheffield United, and now it has found its end. We have reached a verbal agreement, so I expect that everyone is happy, "says development manager of Rosenborg, Tore Grnning to adressa.no.

Only signatures remains before the agreement is formalized.

Loyalty-based pay
Players adviser Sverre Mauseth is extremely pleased that everything seems to work out, for now and Barrel Lkberg rely on to pack your bags as quickly as possible.

- We agree personal terms. The agreements are negotiated and accepted, and now it's only for them to pull over and sign. I reckon that Sheffield United will have them over as soon as possible, "he adressa.no.

The agreements have a duration of eighteen months, and will be automatically extended by one year if the players are ten games for Sheffield United's A-team. Both are the first period, staying with host families, and also get pocket money from the club. They will train with the A-team.

- They will be able to live the good pay, and they perform they get it very well. The agreements are very based bonus, "said Mauseth.

That fits on to praise the club and Barrel Lkberg now leave.

- This is a result of good work in Strindheim. At the same time, there are other players of the same caliber in Yorkshire, and I am convinced that they are not the last to take the step into English football, "he said.

Bergen how's about a real translation? And some more background info.... :)

Cheers Blade58. I like the policy of getting young players in, but this needs to be shored up with some solid muscle for the back line.

Have to agree with that HB

I like the fact we are searching for the young talent that will hopefully become our future. In the meantime, we need a brick shithouse wall that stretches across the pitch from one touchline to the other along the 18 yard line. That's the only way we'll keep em out.

Having said that we'll still probably give a pen away!

Can find sod all about them on the web at all. We got any scandinavian based blades who may know something about them??

Two Norwegian lads. There's your muscle Highbury.

Edit: it seems the translator did their names too... Erik Tønne & Kristoffer Løkberg.

That'd be Bergen Blade. He'll be along shortly no doubt...

What exactly is the standard of Norway's second division?

Wonder why we're after these as well. Does McCabe have a linkup with Strindheim? ;)

The amounts are also in NOK. 400k is only £45k, and NOK1.5million is £160k

Things must be getting tight!

We're only paying them pocket money lol

oslo-blade on BM posted about these guys, imho why not throw them in could they be any worse than nyron "ten bob hed" nosworthy?

MunXy

Yeah but only the naive will think that we didn't ask Man U for Nani and Hernandez first!

Just another confirmation that our club is a real car crash

Blackwell Out!

Tønne is a left back, formerly with Rosenborg, but chose to drop down to local neighbours Strindheim to get first team football. He's continued progressing and is a skilful, attacking left back whose goal record is remarkable, although the Norwegian 2. division isn't a great level. Løkberg is a central midfielder who's impressed so much that Rosenborg have followed him very closely. He's a Norway U18 international, and is described as a good all round midfielder with great stamina and decent passing ability.

These are completely unknown in Norway and the transfers have taken people by surprise. I think they are being signed on a similar basis as the Irish lads, 18 months contracts, low wages that will improve and be extended if they get into the first team. They had trials at Shirecliffe and impressed, but I am sure they aren't expected to figure too much just yet, if at all this season.

Great stuff. Thanks Bergen. It's good to see we're actually using some kind of scouting network. A couple of Irish lads, a couple of Norwegians. When was the last time we had some young foreign kids in?

Actually we signed a young Swedish born Polish lad a couple of years ago, a guy who Henrik Larsson described as "the Polish Zidane" when he was a kid. He never developed like we hoped and was sent on loan to Norwegian second tier club Ulf Sandnes, but he seems to have had no end of injury problems and hasn't played much at all. We also had a Canadian midfielder who played alongside Billy Sharp in the team that finished second in the FA youth cup a few years ago. And Carlos Pomares is a Spanish left back in our current youth team.

The game we lost to Southampton? Leon Best played that night, and perhaps he's finally come good. Hattrick for the Geordies last night.

Yes, and Ryan Gyaki was the player I thought about. I think Dexter Blackstock partnered Leon Best for Southampton.

That's right. Those pair were electric that night. I thought I'd seen stars of the future...

We played Simon Francis who was our best player by a mile.

We've got a former Blade working in the marketing team for FIFA this year. Was a Canadian goalie who was with us for a couple of years. Thomas someone?

Former blade? As in former player, or a fan who'd had enough after Blackwell and Robson?

Never mind all that Bergs, how tall are they??

Some info on the Norwegians.
Tonne:ca. 185 cm/76 kg, serious sensitive left foot. Scored over 15 goals this season for Strindheim from left back position....very good skills, good pace, good stamina, brilliant passes.
Lokberg:179 cm- 70 kg Pit-Bull like midfielder , needs som muscles, great stamina and a devil to meet for the opposite team. Good skills, good passes-
Both players with U18 - matches for Norway. These lads are ballplayers, not kickers. Goalhungry as well...Think they are going to surprise the club :-)
