Norway blades

Currently in Puerto Banus with my owl mate and blade brother. Met some lads from Norway last night in a bar and got chatting about where we were from. I said Sheffield and they all said "ah Sheffield united, the blades!" my owl mate was absolutely gutted that made reference to United and not Wednesday yes! Blades everywhere!

Similar story when I was in Chile for my honeymoon and we were looking at various restaurants to go to within this food hall in Santiago and a waiter at the entrance of one restaurant heard us speaking in English and said "where are you from"? I said "Sheffield" and he said "ah Sheffield United"? I said "oh yes" turned to the misses and said "we're eating here"! It was a cracking meal too!

I'll just use my 'Blades European Saver' I set up when the prince came in. I reckon it'll likely happen first. Mind you, Wilder seems to like the sun too much.

I recall a tour of Finland was all planned under Micky Adams until he was relieved of his duties. The opposition - whose name escapes me - were even selling tickets for the fixture against us.

There are a number of Scandinavian Blades who started supporting us in the 60/70s, then a good few in the early 90s, but definitely more from the period with Deane up front, than Flo. Our supporterclub grew after Flo and Nilsen joined, but many of those supporters seemed to lose interest soon.

The last I checked I think there were about 110 Scandinavian Blades, although there are definitely a few loners who walk around thinking they are the only Blades up here. For the supporters club's group trips we usually bring our flag and after the Bolton game last season a Swedish bloke had spotted our flag at the back of the South Stand, so came over to say hi as we took it down. He'd supported United since the 60s, but never spoken to another Scandinavian Blade before. We told him to search for the "Scandinavian Blades", but still haven't heard from him.
