They beat us with real pace and quality finishing which we haven’t seen since Cardiff, and before that Leicester. Mistakes by CCV and JOC cost us in the end.

We had 55% possession and 7 on target - so as good as usual going forward. If you live by the sword you die by it as well though, but that’s who we are now.

We won’t see many more teams that quick this season but if we go up we will see a lot. Not an old man’s game at that pace - unless you’re called Leon!

Thought Fleck, Clarke and Carruthers were superb - and Hanson is certainly what you need for a finish like that!

Anybody know how many players have scored a hat trick and lost?

The Magic is Still Strong

The ref certainly didn't help the Blades tonight he was weak why lecture a player then give him yellow just give it to him.
I thought he lost control of the game which frustrated players.

That's it, it reminded me of the Leicester match - their pace and quality finishing. You win some, you lose some. Onwards and upwards.

I think the mistakes we made were down to Fulham putting us under pressure, similar to what people were saying about us vs wolves (except that back pass, there was absolutely no pressure there)

Bear in mind Hanson had a header cleared off the line and we should have had 1 maybe 2 pens. Sordell was very good but he should have had a second yellow, ref bottled it twice.

But if you are going to lose then do it like that. We now go into Saturday on the biggest high possible following a defeat.

Basic errors tonight cost us. Nothing to with system. Nothing to do with Coutts. Nothing to do with being found out.
Absolutely hit the nail on the head! Got done down the wings simple .

I have this nagging suspicion that if Fulham had played at Cardiff tonight Cardiff would have ground out a one nil or two one win.

Anyone up for giving Fulham a bit of credit ?

They did their homework.
They used pretty much every trick in the book.
They overloaded our back line on any number of times with quick breakaway counters that left us all at sea.

Simply can’t see them finishing bottom half.

Defo best side to come to Lane this season.

And we still managed to bag 4 !!!!!!!

Funny old game ;)

Onwards.

Cairney a class act btw. And they had one or two other PL standard performances on the night as well.

The difference between the two sides was Ryan Sessegnon.

Can't say I've ever seen a 17 year old as good as he is, in all my years of watching football. It was a truly outstanding performance,

Not to be pedantic or owt but he's 18 so that blows your point to dust.

EDIT wiki says 17, you edited it?

I think you just have to give Fulham a lot of credit tonight, at times they had the rub of the green and we made basic mistakes, whereas usually we are rock solid. But they killed us on the break with pace and every shot they had went in, rather than hit the post, goal keepers legs or just miss.
We gifted them the equaliser and then within 2 minutes scored again, i know it's all ifs and buts in football but what a fantastic night of entertinment.
A number of players had poor games tonight by previous standards but thats how it goes sometimes, just forget it and move on to the next match,
The season has been an amazing journey so far, still loads of games left, I actually now look forward to the matches every week rather than just going, because that's what I do

OK I give in, lose 4-5 every game. Again must be just me but I would rather have had 0-0 tonight.
But that isn't likely when you're going for a win. I'd prefer a point to no points but I don't think we should be setting up to get a 0-0 draw at home. If you try to win games you stand a chance of sometimes losing. You seem to be saying we should go back to how we played under Clough 'we start with a point'.

And if that's not you're point, surely you don't think the comment 'I'd rather lose 4-5 than draw 0-0' is to be taken literally and mean every game? It's a simple figure of speech to mean 'I'd rather us be an attacking team and occasionally ship a few than be tight at the back, hard to beat and draw a lot'.

And when we're kakking it over Brooks leaving it's worth remembering Sessegnon could have left Fulham by now but chose to stay as he was getting games.

Nope, we should never set out for 0-0, my point is if we don't win is 0-0 is better than losing 4-5 that's all.

(Duplicate post from other thread)

I'm not too disheartened after that. I'm actually quite proud. To feel like that after conceding 5 at home says it all about this team.

Yes there was some bad defending but we caught Fulham on a clinical night. And they do have some very good players. They were due something like this and unfortunately we were on the end of it. It was just one of those strange (and entertaining) games. They were never really 2 let alone 3 goals better than us at any point. We had to chase the game in the second half and they hit us on the counter twice to exaggerate the scoreline.

At 5-2 with many of our pea hearted plebs leaving early it seemed like it might be a heavy defeat, so to fight back like that was satisfying. I know they were ultimately only consolation goals but they weren't flukes, they were merited.

And Leon getting back to back home hat tricks.... beyond belief! That sealed a spectacular defeat.

The team we put out tonight was understrength. We could've done with Baldock for this game more than any. We were obviously without Coutts, and also Basham in his influential RCB role.
But the performance level was there, as it always is. We performed well with the team we had on the pitch.

I'm not concerned about anything based on this match in isolation, but there's no getting away from the fact losing Coutts is a huge blow. I think our hopes of automatic promotion have nosedived. But how funny is it to say that given where we've come from?

Thankfully plenty of fans did bother to stay and the total respect we have for this team was there for all to see at the end. Moments like that stick in the players' minds and strengthen the bond we have.

Sessingyon (not even going to try and spell it) might have got the the hat trick but Ojo? Jesus. If he plays like that every week he'll be back to Liverpool in January and off to the world cup in the summer. Best player at the lane this season by a mile.

As for us? A few off nights, a couple of costly individual errors but still, arms swinging. That'll do for me.

Next.

But if you are going to lose then do it like that.

The exact opposite of Friday, where if you are going to win don't do it like that.

Amazing game, dodgy defending and maybe the subs could've been smarted (Hanson for Billy maybe), but who cares? Not a seen characters like this ever.

As a brief aside, Bournemouth only had 32 points from 18 games in 2014/15 and went on to win the league. We're on 36 and the teams around us have had to be in excellent form just to grab on to ours (and Cardiff and Wolves) coat-tails. Onwards and upwards.

Cairney is top notch, and apparently he's only 80% fit.

Sessegnon is going to the very top. He's not even a natural winger and he got 3 goals tonight! Huge night for him and his career. He's not 18 until May, FFS.

They've got pace down both flanks, at the back and further forward. They put it to good use tonight and were clinical.

That midfield and that attacking pace both sides of them is a combination that should see them pushing for the top 6 at the very least.

They need to sort themselves out because their league position is a joke.

What do you make of Tim Ream ?

Caught my eye at Bolton. And again, thought he was good tonight.
