No transfer business.....

I'm sure we have things in the pipeline most probably loans. Obviously Rammers and Berge leaving for around 60m would alter things.
Agree entirely with OP about shortfalls in squad at the present moment I wouldn't think we could get into top 10
How much 😂😂😂😂 put the pipe away 80 million 😂😂😂

Surely no one expected us to do much business?
In July , no. In August , especially towards the end of the month , yes. We need a quality CB to go straight into the team.
No more "squad players" please.
We also need a quality CREATIVE MF with a football brain clever enough to do the unexpected + unlock a defence.
Our chance-creation was at a nadir last season - if we don't get someone in who can do this , we'll not achieve our objective.

Think it’s less about improving the squad per se and just having a couple of faces to freshen it up and give different competition for places.

There’s bound to be a bit of a hangover from last season, a few players spent a lot of time out with injuries and the defence was never really settled either. We probably need another defender and an extra body in midfield

I’d be surprised if we get to the end of August and haven’t signed anyone at all, however, it may be that we’re waiting on outgoings before we get anyone else in. In which case I’d be extremely concerned if we lose anyone at this late stage before the start of the season and are faced with having to replace them at the eleventh hour. You would hope Slav has targets in place should he have to make a move but clubs will know our position which may prolong the negotiation process and lead to us overpaying or missing out altogether.

Having said that though, Wilder always got his business done early which was a pleasant surprise when it was happening. Maybe we need to get used to the realities of the transfer market. Wilder appeared to be the exception and not the rule in that respect.
Wilder used to talk about getting his business done early but Brewster's Millions was a costly last minute panic mistake.

Yes we've brought n one in yet but all I am asking for is we start to get a return from McBurnie, Brewster and Mousset they owe use a fair few goals this season. I'm still worried over our midfield but who knows they may excel, we shall have to wait and see and trust in the new boss.
A goal return from the strikers depends on the chance creation from MF which was so pathetic last season from Fleck & Norwood that I don't trust either of them to be part a promotion-winning MF - they look like they are fading gently away on fat contracts - Norwood in particular can no longer be bothered to run back + defend if the opposition break our lines + their passing lacked invention.
It's a big gamble on their renewed enthusiasm if they're not displaced by new + hungrier MF.

Completely agree. Two absolutely key roles that we didn’t have last season yet all knew we needed. Solid defence and the ability to feed the front line gets us in top 6.

Disagree with that. It may appear to have happened late on or last minute but the deal was very protracted and CW probably should have had a second option……his focus was always Rammers and Brewster

Not sure if I've missed anything, but just seen this;

YorkshireLive report: "Slavisa Jokanovic says he is 'hopeful of results soon' regarding new arrivals having held a series of talks with the club's key recruitment figures.

"The new Blades boss is not planning a major overhaul of the playing squad, insisting on evolution not revolution."

Hopefully that answers most of the points raised on here. 😂😂😂😂
All perfectly clear now.

That's why I said it, I mean our MF might surprise us but it doubt it mate.

Looks like we’ve not got a pot to piss in yet again this summer

Considering we sold a player for 30 million last summer and had more parachute money and in theory a stronger chance of automatic and didn't spend anything anyone thinking we will this year really needs to give their head a wobble. Biggs is hardly going out on a limb here with his guesswork

The problem is we still owe money on the likes of McBurnie, Brewster and Berge as Darren Smith confirmed when he analysed the clubs most recent accounts. That is massively eating into the funds to buy/sign new players.

Saying that it's still disappointing if we don't sign some quality additions this summer, hopefully on a permanent basis.

Where did our money go from gettting promoted and finishing 9th? I really can’t see how we have no money

26-May, the Championship season hasn't even finished and some are moaning about the lack of signings 🤪
West Brom have signed our long-term target John Swift...

.... And the season hasn't even finished.

I can see why some would get a bit panicky.

Plus, when do we ever do early business? We used to use the argument when we were in the play offs that we wouldn't know what division we would be in so other teams would have a head start. Last summer we didn't have a manager until last minute.

This summer????

Do you mean West Brom have signed Utd's previous manager's one-time target?

Panic??? PH has already said he wants people in early and have the group together for pre-season so let's see what happens over the next 8 weeks - why pay new signings' considerable salaries while they're laying on a sun lounger in Dubai? 6 x £15k (average salary) x 8 = £720k spent before they anyone kicks a ball on the training ground!

The amount, quality and cost of transfer activity will however be likely dependent on the timing of the takeover (if it goes ahead) - why would HRH fund signings prior to it going through and throw value away?

When selling a business the idea is to make it look as profitable as possible on paper..

With this in mind it doesn’t take a genius to work out what will happen this window

I quite like the fact we are skint again, hoping beyond hope that the league 2 reserve we've signed will be a hidden gem that miraculously all other teams have let slip through the net, or that ageing has-been falling from grace will somehow recapture their halcyon days.

It rarely happens of course, but when it does it's fucking glorious.

I get your argument re wages but having new signings signing in time for pre season is Hecky's plan which is only three weeks away as he said it was mid June. I really hope the takeover is having little baring on new signings because that appears to be 50/50 at best.

Bloke knows sweet fa about any of our budgets or targets.

Him and his sheff star mates know less than some of our posters and they get all their info from here tbh.
I might have read it wrong, but wasn't there an article the other day on Newsnow where Hecky said something about it'll be frees and loans?

Yes he's been saying that publicly for a while yet some on here are seemingly deaf to it
