No tinkering tomorrow please Chris.

We do need to think about how to get Marsh some game time. There were loan bids in for him, some decent I think, so would be good to see him enter plans, quite a critical time for his dev.

Not going to be easy tonight, thinking rationally we should prioritise tonight over Sunday in terms of strength, though not sure that'll be the case.

Agree about Marsh, it's quite clear that he's too good for the Cat B U21's, we need to get him out on loan in January, not sure whether to go League 1 or 2 though.

But it would be nice to see him get some minutes tonight if possible and potentially put him in the shop window for a loan move.

He would have no doubt gone out on loan but our failure to bring in another striker on deadline day hampered this. He's not good enough or strong enough to play for the first team yet, but too good to play for the development team. I've no doubt he'll go out on loan in January.

Joe Mercer (our manager between 1955 and 1958 and later won trophies for Manchester City) shut up one of the SUFC directors who was questioning his tactics and team selections

Joe Mercer: What do you know about football, then?

SUFC Director: I have watched football for many years so I consider myself to be an expert
Joe Mercer: My wife has been sat next to me watching me driving my car for so many years, and she bloody still cannot drive!
That's a great tale which I've heard many times.
Doesn’t stop fans having opinions though and imagining what they'd do if they were manager.
We don't intend to contact CW directly !
Just share them on a forum.
Don't you have any opinions which occasionally differ from what the manager does , Silent ?

I think it'll be Shackleton for Gilchrist and maybe McCallam for Burrows. Anel most likely back in for Robinson but Wilder has been particularly vociferous in his praise of Robinson so I wouldn't be completely shocked if he kept his place.

Maybe Arblaster gets a rest? Possibly Campbell for Moore
Campbell for Moore ?
So if you're keeping 2 strikers , that's Campbell & Brewster pairing up front ?
Or are you asking Campbell to play lone striker ?

Pick the best team and make early changes.

3 points vs Bristol is just as important as 3 points against the Pigs when it comes to the final total.

The most important match is the next one.

Don’t start taking players like Burrows out, who are on form.

We play Tuesday and Sunday. Plenty of recovery time to play in both.

Cooper
Gilchrist Souttar Anel Burrows
Arblaster Souza
JRS Hamer Campbell
Moore

Definitely I’d play Hamer centrally, unless Chris feels he can ease him a little more and pick O’Hare. A total waste of his talents out wide. Campbell is now difficult to drop.

Shackleton, McCallum and Brooks obvious subs at some point.

All depends on how the game is going.

I think you maybe a few out with your starting 11 ?

The table doesn’t suggest they’re stronger than us, if they are better, it’s by a very small margin.

I’m more than happy for the starting lineup to be rotated, but we should never do what we did against Leeds again this season. We’re one of promotion favourites, not a relegation candidate.
At Leeds , not only did he change to a completely different system in a back 5 , but also played neither of our wingers , giving us no outlet going forward. This was not tinkering or squad rotation , this was far too big a change to make against perhaps the strongest team in the league.

I'm not saying what I'd do, just what I think Wilder might.

I'd go

Cooper
Seriki Anel Souttar Burrows
Souza Hamer
JRS O'Hare Brooks (in whatever order)
Moore

I'd give Moore an hour before bringing Campbell on. Might even give Onè a look late. Give Arblaster a breather before the biggest game of his career on Sunday.

My predicted starting eleven
Cooper
Shackleton Souttar Anel McCallum
Peck Souza
Brooks Hamer O’Hare
Campbell
Rotation of players is more acceptable than major changes in shape.
Rotation of players can be due to : form , carrying an injury , exhaustion , or wanting to give minutes to a player who comes in.
Rotation of players can be for reasons of which we fans are unaware.
Changes in shape , imo , are risky because they upset the "rhythm" of the team in which players have developed a way of playing that's become second nature to them.
The only change of shape you've made is to put Hamer in and drop the second striker.
That should work if Hamer keeps up with the striker , but I doubt Campbell can do the job that Moore did on Saturday.
Personally I would start Moore and swap him for Campbell at HT , thereby not exhausting either of them.
I'd start both of them on Sunday , when it will be a decision between Hamer & O'Hare.

I get all that, but Wilder has form for wholesale rotation. I recall when we played Bristol Rovers midweek in the 2016-17 season and he virtually changed the entire team. He did the same against Fleetwood later that season.
I'm not advocating he should, I'm just predicting he will.

Our record on injuries alone, has improved. I doubt that is by accident. Someone has given it a great deal of thought.
Include potential suspensions for key games, and resting key players or key positions and it can look even more complex.
Does anyone think we went to Blackburn with a defensive set up to an away game? Someone is learning to trust our squad replacements for whatever reason!
So far Cooper and Souttar seem immune to rest or disciplinary reasoning?
2 strikers and a winger at an away game - that's what I call "looking to win a game".
That'll do for me !
Not convinced we should change it for Bristol , except perhaps put Hamer in and let Moore & Campbell do a half each so they're not knackered for Sunday.
Personally , I'd like to see their partnership develop but I'm not in a position to judge whether they are knackered from Sunday or able to play tonight & Sunday.

The defence is so good- why would you set up the whole team to defend- everybody says it and its true- rather lose 4-3 than 1-0.

Attack attack attack and let the defence do its job. The value of 3 points far outweighs the 1 for a draw.

5 days until we play again after tonight, nobody should be "knackered"

Agree we should look for a win tonight like we did at Ewood.
If we want to play 2 strikers , then having only 3 seniors (any of whom could get injured) is risky , unless we are content to have Marsh or One on the bench and quite likely to get on the pitch later in the game.
Those itk about the U23s can opine whether it's best to get a further senior loan striker in January and let Marsh/One out or rely on our youngsters

Points in the bag please best 11 tonight, Sunday is a totally different animal it's a steel city derby where the form book goes out of the window and apart from that I think bacon roll will park the bus and play the long game, they'd love a nil nil win personally a comfortable 2-0 win for us even if it means that dickhead next door spends the next few months telling me how spozy we were ( until I point out the league table)

I would imagine if CWAK thought One or Marsh were able to make the step up imminently then they would have had a good few minutes off the bench by now. A senior striker is a must in Jan for me, we are far too light up top.

“Best 11 tonight”

Logical approach, but you do know that CW doesn’t always take that approach?

Expect some changes

I have no idea what team Wilder should pick tonight, I'm not a professional football manager, I haven't got access to all the players fitness level metrics, I don't understand what players would be best playing against Bristols strengths and weaknesses. I am totally under qualified to have a view on it. Whatever the professional football manager feels is best is what I would go with.

Don’t want to go into pork game after being dry bummed my Brizzdol . Put strongest team possible out for this one Chrissy

Bigger than captaining a Premier League game against Man Utd?
