See you at Millwall Grecian
I too agree wholeheatedly with the pricing issue
But I suppose in a world where Monty and Quinn can earn thousands a week football has indeed gone crazy!!!

McCabe? Personally I think he's a fairly honourable bloke that wants the best for SUFC. But I also think he's made mistakes and looks at football as a project he's tried but ultimately failed with. He wants his money back and who can blame him. It doesnt matter whether he's a millionaire or not.....what is owed is all relative. I appreciate the things he's achieved and the things he's tried to achieve but I can sense he wants out.

Here's one then - if he's tried and failed, is it right he gets his money back? It's banking all over again isn't it? Massive rewards for success some other bugger needs to pay when you fail.

Steel,
I once invested a lot of money into a business that failed No one paid me back even though I was not instrumental into the failure!
McCabe called the shots - hired Robson, Blackwell, Sold Naughton, Walker, Beatie, Kilgallon etc etc
He's been running the show Now weve no pot to piss in yet he wants all his money back
Thats the gamble He's blown it and most of it was his fault!

I hear you both and thats a compelling argument that I dont disagree with at all. What you're saying is quite fair. However..........

KM is the gaffer and if he wants to take his money back he'll take it. Who's to stop him? I'm not for one minute saying that supporters should be happy about that or that they should simply take it on the chin. But at the end of the day he'll get what he wants because he's in charge and I accept it as an inevitability if he can get it. I also accept that if its within the boundaries of the law and he's entitled to take it back then he has every right to (whether it seems fair to us or not).

Mic asked the question and I gave him my take on it. I'm not trying to justify it at all.

Fiery - in your scenario did you seek your money back? Or would you have sought it if you were in charge / given the opportunity to?

Different scenario- there was no money left but if I had been running the show I would have accepted responsibility
McCabe has not, yet still wants his money

Me too, and still paying to this day, thanks to the actions of others.

But the difference is that the businesses that you & I invested in failed. By that, I mean the one that I am still paying for crashed & went out of existence. That hasn't happened to SUFC has it? If it does, then KM won't get all of his money back. But until that time, he can hope that eventually it will turn round, in which case he has a chance of recouping. I know that if it had been possible in my case I would have done exactly the same, and please don't ask me to believe that you wouldn't. That's business.

I dont doubt your honesty Fiery but I think its easy to say that looking back. I think 99% of human beings who make a large investment that fails would at least look to get some (if not all) of it back. I totally understand this responsibility issue but at the end of the day only a mug would walk away having lost £50M and simply say "it was my fault so keep it." We dont live in that sort of world.

Oh, and good to see this thread bucking the trend!!

It started out as a typical "Look at me!! Look at me!!" pointless pile of shite, and has actually resulted in some decent debate. As opposed to the recent norm, which tends to see decent threads hijacked by the attention seekers.

I think you and I need to call a truce mic. We essentially agree on the broader issues surrounding SUFC. We just have a different way of putting our points across.

I understand that you felt my opinion of the Watford game was overly negative but I genuinely thought we were poor on the day and nothing will change my mind on that. Shockingly, we managed to top that game with a far more inept performance on Saturday. Those two games are as poor as ive seen us in the attacking third for quite some time. Just my opinion but I know some share it with me regarding the Watford game.

I couldnt make Leeds no. I was all set to buy the tickets but other things came up and at £30 a pop I didnt feel I would get the sort of value to make me want to shift other priorities. Sad really, because at one time I moved heaven and earth to get to away games.

Agreed. Get yer sen in Champs or Scholar, let us know and there's a lovely pint waiting for you.

It's very reasonable that McCabe would think he wants his money back. The Tevez wedge and the Kyle wedge is basically his last chance to get it and he's taking it (I also think he needs it to help whatever his property interests are but that's another matter - ie cash from SUFC Ltd going to Realty or to Realty via Scarborough - all perfectly commercial and everyday fiscal movements within associated companies).

For me a football club with our relatively decent support can thrive at the second tier level even if it is paying wages at 65% of turnover. But, all our eggs in the basket of Monty, Cresswell, Morgan etc and it is shocking management (from the very top) that has created this current mess of cash return and shocking football.. He doesn't nec deserve his wedge back but he's going to get it even if it means relegation and 10k season ticket holders next term.

I think it IS more a price thing this season.

I had junked away games whilst Hoofy was around and was looking forward to getting back into it this season until I saw the prices that people seem to think is fitting for a second tier game.
I'm not going to pay over £25 for a game at this level (and I baulk at that) so I've been left staying at home. Never thought I'd be looking forward to going to Millwall but at £22 they seem to have a dose of realism about them.

Totally agree, even if it costs more to get there it means more paying less to get in. £22 is spot on for me in London and they ar a decent side as well if a home fan. Been a couple of times, brilliant days out, especially when Geary starts notching from outside the box

Fair point. On a similar theme, I wonder if SUFC will be brave enough to announce ticket prices for a home game at the A category prices? That is, £30 on the Kop and £34 everywhere else.

Ouch, Nicky boy, what's that all about?! You were only saying that (although you didn't agree with my posts) that they were amusing and witty a few months ago. This is not a 'look at me' thread. That is merley something that people who don't like my posts have tried to shoot it down with. Once again (as with many of the threads I have started) it has turned out to be a success (despite the 2 stars!? ;) ). I shouldn't have to explain this, but the thread is supposed to be light hearted. It's a tongue in cheek dig at all the over the top negativity that hit the forum following our defeat to Doncaster. I thought you were smart enough to pick up on that.

My teachers always said I didn't pay enough attention - I must be a proper thicko because I missed it by a mile. One of us probably needs to work harder.

You could do the one star review and block the poster option. Seems to do most of the work.

Yep, takes a real man to do that. Still posting on my threads I see Vancouver. You block me, give my threads a one star ..... but you just can't resist.

If I can use one of Micalijo's analogy's: 'it doesn't matter how hard Speed gets those players traiing, they'll never be any good'. You can train your brain as much as you want (you can pick those brain train things up - the one's advertised by the Redknaps - for real cheap now you know) but you aint ever going to be on Mastermind.

I don't think he's for real though, I think its another "Barnsley Blade".
