Seems to me that if evidence of a fall out was ever needed the body language between Blackwell and Ward as the latter was substituted said more than a thousand words could ever do

Still, if they had, then why would Ward suddenly get a start and why would Blackwell clap Wardy off?

Sorry but Blackwell did NOT repeat NOT clap Ward off and Ward was particular about not even looking at Blackwell ,everyone around me in The south stand F block commented on it

He did.

I was looking directly across from half way on the John Street and as Ward was about 6 yards from the touchline, Blackwell clapped.

Ward then walked past him to the bench.

Radio Sheff made a big issue of this when he came off.

Just because there was a rumour that they've fallen out (no sources confirmed) it doesn't mean that everything has to be analysed in an attempt to back this theory up.

Out of interest does Blackie look at the players he's subbed normally or don't you know?

Is this some sort of question as to my credentials as a fan?
If so ,season ticket holder for 32 years ,being going to the Lane sice I was 8 which is 44 years ago so I guess in answer to your question ,yes I do know and as a further answer to your other question yes Blackwell and the subbed players useually do share a hand shake and or a pat on the back, the obvious coolness between these two tonight was just that ,obvious

My thoughts exactly i was sat just to the left of the away dugout 5 rows back and the way Ward walked off was not good, didnt even acknowledge the fans.
Personally i think Blackwell is trying to bring him back down to earth due to the contract talks.
Blackwell clapped Ched off and praised him but saw non of that when Ward came off.
Interesting times ahead me thinks.

Whether he fell out with him or not. He started the match and played the majority of it. Players and managers fall out plenty. So what?

So Wards performance tonight was a shadow of his previous ones ,we have a little quality in the side that we can afford to have one of the few quality players we have go through the motions

And if that is a result of an argument, then it's a bigger indictment on Ward than it is on Blackwell.

Blackwell turned his back on Ward and didnt shake his hand, it speaks volumes.

Imagine what Ward must be thinking as he walked past Quinn whose contribution was to give 90% of his possesion to the opposition and do nothing positive all night. One of the worst performances I have ever seen from A Sheffield United payer.

Kin el! Why would you think I was questioning your credentials?

I was asking a genuine question. Seeing as though you pay so much attention to players and managers subbing routines in this game I thought it must be out of experience of seeing Blackie shake hands/ applaude/ spank the arse of/ hug players as they come off.

Personally i've never paid any attention to how a manager greets a player when he comes off so I just wanted to know what he normally does.

Blackwell said well done to Wardy. He made a point of it.

It was subtle and in passing, but no little or more than he did for the other players who came off.

Linz = right behind the dug out.

I did notice when Ward got clattered by Howard, Blackwell shouted and pointed some instructions to Ward and Ward just turned away and carried on in the same direction.

Then when they got a corner, Blackwell told Ward (the only player in there half) to come over to the touchline instead of standing in the centre circle, Ward again just looked away.

I also noticed Ward not look at Blackwell. Maybe Blackwell playing him and giving him praise is because he's shitting it that he might want to leave.

I also noticed Gary Sinclair say well dome Jamie when he announced the changeover, making more of it than required.

Like somebody else mentioned I would have been pissed off at being brought if I'd been playing in the same team as Quinn last night, how many times did he give possession away ffs.

Having said that Wardy was quiet but that was mostly to do with Reading coming down our very very weak left hand side, a better team would have battered us down there.

I don't slag Blackwell off often so here goes.

Yeates LM/CM. Lets play him RM for a grand total of 2 minutes. Tit!

Your reference to Radio Sheffield coupled with your what seemed veiled question " or would you not know" led me think you were suggesting I was an armchair fan trying to stir up trouble based on some radio show talk ,to be honest at the time I presume the programme your on about was on I had been on the beer for an hour.
I dont have some wierd fetish for watching what happens at substitutions other than at the time they happen ,the game has stopped so theres not much else to look at other than whos coming off and going on ,and also where I sit in the south stand it all takes place almost under my nose

In answer to your question the norm is a shake of the hand and a pat on the back ,useually from manager and other coaches ,Wards body language as he left the pitch made it obvious he was not going to shake with anyone and Blackwell didnt look that botherd either ,someone else has said he said well done my eyes are not good enough to say yes or know but the reaction of them both to each other was distinctly cool

Fair enough Swollen.

The problem I had, was that a rumour with no substance other than "we heard it so it must be true" was discussed by Radio Sheff and then when Wardy got subbed they commented on the rumour and how the lack of Wardy embracing Blackie was a sign that the rumour must be true. In other words they stirred the pot, then chucked in the disclaimer that it was only a rumour.

Personally I think its sensationalism based on rumours.

Maybe they've had a fall out, maybe they haven't. None of us know.

All of a sudden everyone is an expert in the reactions of players and staff during substitutions and like I said, I rarely pay any attention to players and managers during substitutions purely for the fact that so many players show petulance and self importance when they get subbed without a consideration for their team.

Blackwell brought Ward off last night so he could receive his well earnt applause from the crowd.

As for any bust up. Anyone who know's anyone on the inside knows the story now. Ward wanted to be played from the start. Blackwell said no. Shit happened. Blackwell went to Morgs for support who told him he was wrong and should be playing Ward. Morgs and Ward start game and win 3-0. Point made...

Blackwell rarely shakes the hand of any player who comes off. Speed takes responsibility for the arm around the shoulder approach.

Evans was a good one last night... he went to sit down on the bench and then thought he'd milk the applause some more, so stood up and clapped us all behind the dug out. We reciprocated of course :D Nice lad, just can't score for shit.
