Tad disappointed that we didn't bring in any strikers-in to bolster our faint promotion chances. The teams coming up like Wolves will be better defensively, adding a new striker to the mix would have been very helpful.

Max 5 loans in a match day squad, apart from paynter who do you drop to accommodate ?
Personally I'd prefer he brought in no one rather than bring someone in that doesn't actually improve the squad, but in the summer I'd love to see a couple of young, hungry and importantly mobile goal scorers, or even one and a fit lyle Taylor firing goals in.

Brayford, Paynter, Davies, Freeman only count I believe.

Harris is on a perm contract and Coady is a youth loan which isn't counted.

I may be wrong, but I think this is the case, which means we had room for 1.

That's how I see it but I stand to be corrected.

No soton, coady's new loan extension was as a pro not youth I believe, so that's the 5 :)

Personally not really sure there's anyone available that's up to speed fitness wise that would neccessarliy improve us. Now were safe we can maybe take a look at some youngsters, but certainly 1 or 2 pacy strikers required in the summer.

I'm desperate for a striker, but even more desperate for us to sign the right one. You can only sign what's available. It seems our Nigel :) has grasped what we've previously failed to.

I'm constantly bemused how folk think we can just go out and get a striker who's going to score goals. It's really luck of the draw, surely. Unless you're going to spend oodles of cash on someone (like Chelsea, Man City, etc) you're looking for potential because no one will sell a proven goalscorer (apart from us - hopefully that's in the past) and definitely not loan them out at this time of the season.

I agree with Alco and those others who talk about waiting for the "right one." In the meantime Flynn, Coady, Scoogs and Murph are chipping in with goals and Baxter and Porter are sufficient because they have to be - we wouldn't get anyone who would score more goals than them on loan at this point of the season.

Clough has done a fantastic job - but not sorting the striker position out - given it's been an obvious weakness for ages - is disappointing. I still think it will cost us against better teams - as it did v PNE & Wolves. Rovrum are play-off bound thanks to their strikers.

I think the big thing with Cloughie is that he stopped the rot and also got the midfielders and other players scoring.

Comparing us to Rotherham isn't really fair on Cloughie. They've done well all season, ours only really started in January and the fact that we could end up in the top ten or even top 6 is credit to Cloughie.

Priority in summer would include a striker, but also signing another Brayford and Coady are just as high up there

Deano, I suspect that you're referring to any possible chances of reaching the play-offs, that must surely be why you're concerned about us not having an established goalscorer. Anyone decent will be cup-tied I'd have thought, so that's Wembley out of the frame.

I tend to trust Clough's expertise and judgement. He said that in January good strikers were in short supply, if available at all, and that the summer would present us with players out of contract who it would be worth enquiring about. He's never deviated from this in anything he's said, so no fibs and complete consistency at all times from our manager. In short, patience, that is unless we should buy someone out of desperation. I'd have thought our record on this was a good example of why Clough speaks sense and should be listened to. I'm sure Clough would have loved to have a decent goalscoring forward in place right now, but I doubt it wasn't for the want of trying on his part.
