Just like to say, I've absolutely no idea who we should sign at all. The players I like all seem to be too expensive. I thought that Leicester centre forward, Slim Islam or whatever he's called, is exactly what we need up front. Loads of pace and power. But they paid £29 million for him I hear - and that's £28 million too much for us I think.

I liked that young winger of theirs as well, Demerara Gray. When you see the pace and directness that he's got and then look at our strikers, what do you think - honestly? I know what I think. I think there's a world of difference - and so they should be of course - but there's the gap we need to try and fill.

I also heard both these two are supposedly on their way out of Leicester this transfer window. If only eh?

So, who else then? I've not a clue.

I'm with you pretty much. Way back when, I'd like to think I had something of a handle on what would be realistic and what wouldn't be. But for me, the transfer market has gone fucking batshit crazy, to the extent that an average player is costing North of £5m.

So nope, I haven't a scooby either.

Think we will struggle to get someone of note tbh. Prices are sky high and nobody wants to sell a few days before the end of the window, unless they have a replacement lined up. I think the best hope we have is picking up a loan from a top prem side.

It's coupled with a lack of caring as well, as I've gotten older. A few years ago I was alright at keeping tabs on this player and that player; many of my friends still do. Now I haven't got a fucking clue who anyone is and, frankly, I'm not too arsed. If the gaffer wants him, gerrimin.

I'd never even heard of Stearman, who everyone assures me has been around for a good 10 years. So even when I thought I was alright, I still wasn't that attentive!

Most of my awareness of Stearman has come from various Football Manager games, and occasionally hearing his name on Soccer Saturday, none of which really equips me with relevant knowledge of what he is really like. But he has been around the Championship for the bulk of his career, which would suggest to me that he is no mug. A Wolves supporting friend says he was pretty solid.

Sad isn't it that the footballing powers of the likes of Bournemouth, Burnley, Leicester et al are so far ahead of us financially that they might as well be playing a different sport or be on a different planet

Yes I think that's very true actually. We don't like to think of ourselves as a smaller club than the likes of some of those, I'd throw in Swansea and Watford and Huddersfield ....oh stop! I'm depressing myself!

Thing is, they got in there when it started to go bonkers - meanwhile we were languishing in League 1. We've a lot of ground to make up and it's really not easy.

The problem is, the longer we leave it the harder it will get, because that gap is starting to get wider.

In many ways I think this season is more important than the next one in terms of trying to get out of this division. It's alright these folks talking about "consolidation" but what do they think will happen at the end of this season if we have some mid-table finish, or finish just above the relegation zone, then summer comes and there's no money to make any significant signings? Do they think the likes of Coutts and Fleck and Brooks and whoever else we've got that's any good is going to go..."oh well, hard luck chaps, let's try again next season!" I don't. I think they'll take a look around and go..."right, if I want to play in the Prem I need to take that chance now, because great club those this is, they aren't in a position to put the money in and be pushing for the Prem". And then we start to lose the current crop of good players and have to go out and find replacements just to stand still. It's very easy to lose your best players if they feel the club's ambition doesn't match theirs. Same goes for managers too.

At least this season we're riding the wave of success from last season. We're an unknown entity in this division. We've got some very good players and a very good manager. If we were going to speculate to accumulate then this is the season to do it imo. I'm in the camp of thinking that another 2 or 3 quality players, some of them loans perhaps, could really push us on and get us a tilt at the top 6.

If we aren't able to do that I think we'll have a weaker team next season than this one - and that's not "consolidation" that's the opposite.

I trust in Wilder to see things the same way, I just don't trust in the Board to be in a position to either see that, or back it with money. So, Chris is going to have to be very creative!

There's only 3 ways we can compete financially. Firstly McCabe attracts significant investment into the club however this is unlikely without him relinquishing control as the amount of money we need isn't going to be forthcoming without control of the club (which incidently may be why the Princeappears to have shut up shop. That leads to the second way, he sells up completely to some billionaire type, the least likely of the three. The third way and the one most likely for us but also least likely to generate the finance or the results is Wilder continues to spot lower league gems and develops them so we either win promotion with a low transfer spend or we sell them on at a massive profit.

That's why I'm was a fan of trying to sign the likes of Bogle as he's the type of player who could be worth a lot more in a couple of years. He could also we worth less but that's the gamble when you are shopping at the lower level.

Whatever it's very unlikely we are going to have the finance to compete at the top at this level so we are reliant on Wilder working his magic

He was a lot better in Football Manager 2014. We should ask for a refund.

Was on loan at Gillingham last season but did not set the world alight.
We need to be looking for better quality players than Thomas.
