According to various media sources we are apparently chasing Swindon's in form striker Nicky Ajose who has bagged an impressive 14 goals in 23 games so far this season.

With that record he's out of our league. If he moves it will be at least to championship. Thread dead.

Don't know a lot about him to be honest. What kind of player is he? Can he play on the wing or play as a target man? Because that's what we are missing in the forward line.

Didn't realise he'd scored 13 this season.

He's quick and tricky though so this one can be ruled out.

How come Swindon always manage to have a couple of exciting players whereas we're very lucky to have one?

He was on loan at Crewe last year and scored a few goals to keep them up. We could have had him for nothing, but we still have the mentally that we should sign players from above this standard that are suppose to be better!!!!

He's always been one of those "highly rated " players (he came through at Man U didn't he, but to date seems to have been somewhat of a journey man, and hasn't really nailed down a spot at a club for a long period of time, but he's shown he can score goals in spells. I think he is quick but he's definitely not someone who would hold up the ball and I'm not sure he is what we're looking for, but that said I'd personally love a guy who can cause havoc with pace and we haven't got that up front, only in JCR who can't get a game right now. I'd personally rather a with something different to what we've got like the big lad from Watford, Uche Ikpeazu, but Ajose is probably a safer bet.

Its good if we are looking (finally) at younger players that are impressing at other clubs at this level or League 2 rather than getting players who have regularly disappointed from the Championship and are now in their late 20's and then we sign them! We've had some good uns like that, don't get me wrong, but I'd prefer some younger, hungrier lads with something to prove like Jamie Murphy was.

Just corrected your post for you Ricky

Good player, the sort that can create something for himself out of nothing. Sign him up

Perhaps our tactics this window are to be linked with players we're about to face in the hope of unsettling them ahead of facing us.

Last week, Moncur. This week, Ajose. Next week, Leon Clarke?

Bury game is off so it will be Brad Potts next. I thought he was impressive at the lane but seems to be another number 10 so don't know how well he would fit.

We won't be signing him as he's decent. If we do, he'll immediately turn into a piece of shit anyway.

We shouldn't laugh about how true this is. Hammond hit the ground running with regards to this theory however is now trying to swim against the tide. From the 11 being picked by Adkins right now, they are not the best but probably the most professional. Hopefully the talented can learn s thing or two which looks to be why he brought Hammond in.

Could we persuade him to leave a mediocre swindon side to join us, 24 goals scored this season in a struggling team, rapid, got good feet and knows the back of the net. Reminds me of a lewis grabban.

Im sure championship teams will be all over him.

5/600k i recon could prize him away...

Also obika is a decent player and we desperately need a winger (murphys replacement dare i say it...)

Obika has turned down a contract extension also.....

remember seeing an article from some years back where Knill was interested in Ajose

doh - and another where he was playing for him

Yes we could...5/600k might the problem though :(
Especially whilst we've got Che/Captain Billy, Done and possibly Mcnuts up top.

All looked plausible until you mentioned the fee

Wilder wasn't just brought in for his man management skills, but also because of his ability to put together a competitive side with fk all of a transfer budget, which of course is music to McCabes ears

Bargain bucket time at the Lane next season I'm afraid

Why would he take a side step to join an established League One club like us? If he goes anywhere it will be to the Championship. Hoovering up the best talent in our league is beyond us now.

These are the sort of signings i'd like us to make. We've been saying this for years now.We should be cherry picking some of the best players from this league and the one below. I'm excited to finally have a manager who looks capable of doing that. We don't need to spend a fortune on wages etc to get a team out f this league. I'd rather spend a bit more on a fee for an up and coming player then a low fee but huge wages for a championship player on a downward spiral.

As said above though we seem to have a few options up top, so maybe the sale of mcnulty might be necessary. We might even get a half decent offer for him given the season he's had.

Looking at northampton alone they have a couple of players that could really help us. A decent keeper I believe is n the last year of his contract. A highly rated LW and maybe even JJ o'toole could make a return.

Offering McNulty as part of a deal for Ajose might be our best chance.

Obika would be a decent one to pick up on a free as a rotation striker.
