He was only on the bench on saturday and tonight because he had asked Micky Adams if he could be involved.

On Friday his missus was rushed in to hospital for an emergency caesaerian section after 33 weeks, and his twins are seriously ill in intensive care and he still wants to play for this club.

Say's it all, might not be the most gifted footballer, but that speaks volumes, because as a father, if i had been in the same situation i wouldn't have even thought about, in fact the only criticism is that he didn't take the time off, because even though we love this football club, in that sort of situation he should really have let it take a back seat

My interpretation of Monty interview re next season:

"I have been here more than 10 years, happy to stay, but..., along with several others were given ridiculous wage rises not comensurate with our ability and not sustainable on League 1 crowds, so I may be sold."

OK I am reading plenty between the lines, but his response kind of fell away as if he wanted to answer positively but realised he couldn't promise anything

Top bloke and he clearly loves the club. Massive credit to him for wanting to be part of the team and all the best to him, his wife and his kids.

Have you heard something about Quinny or is that just your opinion? Hope it's the latter but worry it's the former.

I'd be sad to see either leave but if I forced to choose, I'd want us to hang onto Quinny. He's carried the team in recent weeks and I think he'd be a real goal threat in L1.

There was a fairly long interview with him in The Football League Paper at the weekend. He had a pop at the board for changing manager so often and sacking Blackwell at the wrong time and he said he didn't think the loanees cared enough about the club. Towards the end the article said something like 'Quinn warns his loyalty will only stretch so far' but there was no direct quote from him to back that up.

If I was picking the players I want to stay for next season Quinn would be top of the list and Lowton second.

I disagree with this. Monty may have felt in the circumstances that it would help to have something else to think about, or that he wanted to channel his frustrations into something positive, or that he just needed a change of scene for a couple of hours. These are all good reasons to keep him involved on matchday.

Certainly spoken to someone who knows these things Coops and it is my opinion someone in the Championship would want a player like Quinny anyway.
I cwertainly would love him to stay but if I was him, I'd be off to take my career somewhere else.

We are stuck with Doyle, who does what Monty does, albeit not as well. Hopefully whoever we get to play alongside him will not be another non-scoring non-passing scrappy midget, however.

I think the interview summed up why Monty has admirers at this club: always prepared to give everything to SUFC regardless. Yes, he is limited as a footballer, but he gives his all and sometimes that is enough to make him stand out from many others. He is 400 times the player of Michael Doyle and I would worry if we let him go. Quinn, same. Hope Monty's twins make a quick recovery.

I think that is a little different because they can dedicate their performance to their recentlyy deceased relative and without meaning to sound crass there was nothing else they can possibly do. Monty's newly born children and sick wife are in hospital and would be preying heavily on his mind therefore should have not been anywhere near Bramall Lane.

So up to now we have one GG scoring 154 when his child was sick that is one of outstanding performaces that litter the sports world. There will have been many more poor perfomances due to personal distressing circumstances that never get mentioned

You're right, she may have, he may have needed a small break from it all.

Monty clearly wanted to help out, I respect his judement on that.
