Just watched Blackman bang in his 10th goal in as many games. He is on fire and looking like a £10m player.

I presume we included a sell on clause in the deal with Reading?

You never know we might be in line for a decent pay day if he should move on?

Every dog has his day, and I'm pleased for him as he struck me as a decent bloke but tbh I'm pretty gobsmacked that he's turned himself into the main man at Championship level.

DW may have ended up getting sacked as a championship manager.

Amazing what a run in the first team as the main striker can do for a player. He spent most of his Reading career on the wing up to now. He's got a chance as the main striker and a decent run and is now proving he can score consistently. Same as he did when he was with us.

Good luck to him, I really liked him here, thought he looked a very good player and had a lot of self confidence which most good players have.

He was our best player - so we flogged him.

Sheffield United Football Club is run as an environMENTALly friendly not for profit social enterprise so we sold him to a Premiership team on the last day of the the transfer window because they weren't playing very well.

Reading were only asked to pay an AFFORDABLE fee because he was a key worker in line with current housing policy.

He was one of my favourite players under Wilson, imagine if we didn't sell our best players..

If there was one person I knew would get on this thread . . . . . . . . . .

Paul had his "road to Damascus" moment, Alco had his "Blackman's gone, wtf?" conversion.
And I knew you'd be right behind me! :D

For me, his quick sale is still the reason we are still in the worst spell in the club's history.

"...Blackman played regularly for the Blades throughout the first half of the season, making 33 appearances and scoring 14 goals by the end of January..."

I know, let's sell him.........

I always saw it as DW1's last throw of the dice. After Miller got injured there was no one to paper over the cracks and our performances were very poor. I think he was told 'no more money, sell before you can buy'. So he agreed to let Blackman go, hoped Murphy could hit the ground running and that a few 'old heads' and a couple of loans would drag us up.

Doesn't surprise me he's doing well, I rated him and was disappointed he was only with us for a short period of time.

Ironically, one of the few deals that has shown how good investment can be self-generating when done right; we apparently got Blackman as part payment for Slew, we invested part of the profits from Blackman's sale on Murphy, who we've now sold for a good profit. If we could do more of this we wouldn't need propping up by the board as much.

He's always had big potential with his athleticism, skill and powerful left foot.

He blew a bit hot and cold for us and whether the fee seemed decent at the time or not, our total dependency on him as our only attacking threat far outweighed that and it was madness selling him, especially with only a few days left in the transfer window.

Remember him getting the dogs abuse for being lazy on numerous occasions. On one occasion it triggered a fight at Notts County away, with fans taking exception to those ripping into the players and him in particular. I can't imagine he looks back at his time with any fondness.

No room for Matty Lowton?

I did think about putting him and/or the two Kyle's in but I don't think many would argue we could have realistically kept those three.

When they're as good as those three were at young ages, and can still to this day regularly play in the premiership, that's when you can't keep them from leaving.

Maguire, McDonald, Blackman, Quinn and Murphy didn't fall into that bracket in my opinion.

We could have kept them here if we adopted the right stance.

Aye that's right 10 goals in 10 games, so stick him in midfield...

Blackman had loads of talent and a great build for a footballer but somehow seemed unable to get involved in games. I guess he's learned that trick.

I noticed earlier he had 2 in last 2 games.

When with us, he always had the ability, but seemed to lack being able to give effort for a full game. Often did nothing all game, without even trying to do anything, then out of nowhere did a great piece of play/goal. I remember his goal at Carlisle, from a tight angle having taken on a couple of their players, was great to watch!

I thought he was quality. If he was in our team now, he'd stick out like a sore ass.

I thought he was a fantastic prospect, great physique, pace, touch and always thought he had a great attitude. I was gutted when we sold him.

Isn't he a bit of a God botherer or did I make that up?
