What are you on about?
Don't we need to get promoted first? To do that, we needed to get the right players in in the JTW but like united, we always take the cheep option. We will come up short again and in May we can look back at the JTW and say. "oh yes, I understand what was being said on the forum". " We should of bought the right players in"
As someone clearly pointed out in today's thread about West Ham and how they are in the PL and we are in L!, it's because they got the right players in to keep them up i.e they got the right player to score the goals to stay in the league.
Have you got his number?
No we don't need to get promoted to be able to plan. We need to be promoted before we act on the Championship plan.
Whilst there is a chance of Play Offs or Auto's then it is prudent to plan for both League 1 AND Championship.
when fully fit I see Robsons experience being our possible greatest asset, in the same way McCall pulled the strings
I wonder if mpjacko has called him yetnot bad to say hes only here because hes a mate of the chairman is he![]()
Next seaspn's Kitson? Same as this one, please! Big Dave has been magnificent for us and particularly today. Ability, workrate, power and at the end as well-deserved a goal as you could wish to see. It should, of course, have been his second.[/quote
I just wondered what he'd done in the past to upset the referee! I'm surprised Kitson didn't lamp him!
Whilst words like "journeyman" and "mercenary" regularly get bandied about by Blades fans whenever we sign a player in the twilight of his career, I would say its pretty clear that we tend to play better with an older, more experienced striker who's played at a higher level up front. The likes of Shipperley and Allison both did good jobs for us. Last season, a lot of the good stuff Evans did was helped quite a lot by Cresswell and this season we have Kitson bagging a few goals and generally helping the team perform.
The problem with players like this is that they can usually only keep up their good performances for a season or so, I know we've had a couple of decent years out of Cressy, but look at him this season when he's been involved, or we might even get them a year too late, like with Beattie the second time around, so it's always a gamble.
Anyway, I'm wondering if we'll try the same tact next year and get an old target man that has played Premier League or equivalent football. Maybe this is why we had that Greek bloke on trial, in preparation for Kitson pissing off to America or his legs going.
Who do you think we should get in to be next season's Kitson?
I'll throw a name in the ring to get started. Ricardo Fuller. Been a decent striker all his career, now no doubt nearing the end of his career, but still doing a decent job for Charlton. He'll be 34 next so they might not want to keep him and he should be realistic.
People say you can't play Kitson and Porter together as they're too similar. I think these people must be blind.
No, they're far too similar in styles to play together. They are also painfully slow as a front pair which allows the opposition to play a high line and constrict the midfield.
Our results with Porter and Kitson up front: played 2 lost 2.
