Like I said on another thread, make Vini captain. He's showing the heart and will to fight for his shirt and the team. Hopefully, it'll make him want to stay rather than need to stay.

According to Bettis if we get relegated we only have to sell one player to be within budget next season. I assume that would be Archer under the buy back clause. We will get a parachute payment of about £45-50 million which will give us the biggest budget of any championship club assuming Leicester, Leeds and Soton get promoted. Hopefully with that we can keep our better players who are on decent wages. We will still be reliant on some of the academy kids stepping up. Like Osula, Brooks, Arblaster, maybe Jebbison. But we need one or two others as well. We also need our recruitment department to do some decent recruitment plucking some decent ready made players for relatively small fees. Other clubs manage to do it and up until we got into the PL last time we did. E.g. JOC, Egan, Baldock, Fleck, Duffy, Didsy etc..

Who is going too buy Hamer or Souza ?
They have hardly taken the Premiership by storm i can't see any Premiership sides being interested, maybe the 3 sides that come up but can really only see Leeds possibly if they make it.
Can't see any Championship sides being able too afford him especially if Leicester, Southampton and Leeds go up..

I was taken a back when Arsenal wanted Ramsdale but he came in with a decent fee just like the other 2 I think their price gives them curb appeal

All depends on what "within budget" means. Could just mean that we can offer the likes of Zinedine Norwood and Roberto Osborne new contracts.

When did Bettis say this? I’ve not seen it, isit something recent that I’ve missed.

Someone told me something similar but said it was Archer + one that would need to be sold.

If that's the pond we're fishing in then there's a few others out of contract that could be an option and would replace those leaving/gone.

Paddy McNair for Anel.
Jimmy Dunne for Egan.
Sam Field for Norwood.
Callum O'Hare for Fleck.
Chris Willock for McAtee.

And then we have the likes of Boyes, Seriki, Buyabu, Arblaster, Brooks, Hackford, Marsh and One to introduce to the first team. Reduces the average age of the squad, helps us rebuild and gives us a really good chance of competing next season.

Yep. We'll be losing a few on a free. We also need to aim to sign as many good free transfers as possible. We can rebuild the squad mainly with these. McNair, Dunne, Field, O'Hare and Gallagher would all be good foundational additions. O'Hare is one we should commit to with a good contract offer - we need to be his best option outside the PL. Not sure PL clubs will be that keen due to his stature

There may be no need to spend many fees but if we're to spend just one decent wedge like last time with Anel, we should spend it on Brereton
