What is it with posters who imagine that panic and anxiety are valid discussion tools? It's not been long since the season ended, we achieved a brilliant end to what has been a long journey in order to finally become a promoted club. Yet there are still occasional voices who seem to think that souring those achievements is somehow worthwhile.
Firstly, those who argue that we're way behind the transfer curve ball seem to forget that there are few clubs who have yet to begin their transfer business in earnest. Yet these same posters can't seem to grasp this fact? By all means rattle on about this, but seriously, be sure of what you say, otherwise it might upset the kids and animals. Pessimism and anxiety walk hand in hand. Haven't the last three years taught anyone anything? We're currently one of the lowest spending clubs around, but what has become clear is that not only have we shown that spending large amounts of money doesn't guarantee success, we've also shown that there are different, often better, ways to create a club that progresses without the burden of debt following you wherever you might go. Of course having access to decent budgets is welcome, but please don't anyone argue that this is the only way to become successful, 'cos it ain't! Our manager has shown us, and the rest of football, that there are more creative ways to get over the line. Yet the penny still hasn't dropped.
Now I'm not one to stand in the way of change/progress, and the immediate future will present Wilder and his team with a mix of possibility and realism, but if there's one thing I stand behind is our manager and his capacity to learn and learn quickly. Wilder's not infallible, but he's good, very good. Don't forget, the manager of SUFC was voted as the best throughout the whole of English football, and yet there are those who seem to imagine that our management is one step behind every one else.......fucking bizarre or what?
