2 wins after 33 games in 1975-76, this season we have 5?

Good point.

However, another way of looking at it is that it was a two point win in 1975-6. After 33 games we had 13 points. If it was a two point win now, we would have 12 points.

But that doesn't make an equal comparison either, because we now play only 38 games instead of 42. Therefore proportionately we have more points this season than we did in 1975-6.

I suppose the only way to judge it is to wait until the season has finished and work it out on a points per game basis. But even then there are problems because of the change in the number of points awarded for a win. It is possible that this season's side could be the worst first division side we've had going by one measurement, but the 1975-6 side could be worse under the other way of measuring!

Best remove the games we played against Wolves (finished 20th) and Burnley (finished 21st) in 1975-76 so our record against the top 19 in 1975-76 was played 38, won 5, drew 10 and lost 25 meaning 20 points (2 points for a win) and 25 points (3 points for a win).

Let's see how we do in the last 5 games of this season.

Colchester 3-3 home then won 2-0 away between Huddersfield & Norwich Fa cup
Hartlepool 2-2 away then 2-0 home before Newcastle in the league cup
I was at the home game v Colchester. Didn't United surrender a 3 1 lead to the team 92nd of 92 that day?

This is going nowhere and is irrelevant. It's 2021 not 1981. Looking forward may be more productive than harping on about 3rd and 4th tier teams from 40 years ago.
It's a comparison today's football compared with yester year and where it's heading. Its in one way been a real eye opener having no crowd in because you can hear the players and the perthetic screams this game once played be real men has turned into overpaid prema donnas rolling around then when the balls played to them up they get off and running again. For the first time last night I turned over and watched the snooker there was more contact and less screaming

I think we were winning 2-0 then losing 3-2 then forced a replay, not 100% sure
I Remember Colin Hill scored for them & then signed for that summer

I'll answer it. For next season, 2021/22 in The Championship, I'd rather take McGoldrick, Brewster and McBurnie.
All three have already scored more goals collectively at that level than the legends you mentioned did with us.
Hatton 215 (34) S.U.FC Edwards 256 (143) S.U.F.C Morris 124 (67) S.U.F.C combined 595 league goals
McGoldrick 110 (24) S.U.F.C McBurnie 46 (7) S.U.F.C Brewster 10 S.U.F.C wait for it...... (0) S.U.F.C combined 166 league goals 😂 Do me a favour

Congratulations, you've failed to read the actual statement posted and answered something no one asked.
Try again editing the legends figures to only include goals scored in the second tier for us and then we can talk.

Bob Hatton beats all three on his own do your homework

He didn't play for us in the 2nd division?
Not for us he didn't but he played in the 1st and 2nd division.Let me explain a goal is a goal so you keep your three and next season according to you it's going to be a goal fest I'll be back and see what excuses are written on here

It's clearly proving a challenge to you. Here's my original post which you are arguing with.

All three have already scored more goals collectively at that level than the legends you mentioned did with us.

The key terms you may want to pay special notice to are the words, more, goals, collectively, level, and most importantly us,

You clearly didn't see mine I asked wait for it
Who would you want Hatton,Edwards,Morris or
McGoldrick,McBurnie,Brewster
You went for the latter then tried to twist the stats if I'm not mistaken Brewster cost over 20 million at the moment 0 goals scored why do you think Liverpool let their future go Liverpool must still be belly laughing
Don't get me started,he just needs a goal to get him started maybe someone should tell him work your balls off which he doesn't and have a shot which he doesn't

I've not twisted any stats, my position has been the same throughout and I'd have Dids, Brewster, and McBurnie based on their goalscoring record at the level we will be at.

You are quoting Career goals for the old players and comparing them with career to date goals of the current players

Hatton was 33 when he joined us. Well past his prime. Morris was 28 when he joined us. Brewster is only 21, see how he does next season
It's certainly worth trying to build up a rapport between him and McGoldrick given both Billy and McBurnie will be spending some of the close season recovering from injury.

FWIW:

Brewster goals in Championship: 10
McBurnie goals in Championship: 31
McGoldrick goals in Championship:75 (15 for us)

Edwards goals for us in Championship: 62
Morris goals for us in Championship: 30
Hatton goals for us in Championship: zero

Of course, you're not measuring like with like (Edwards and Hatton scored a lot more goals in tier 2 for other teams), but you're correct.

Honestly? You do recall the team under Atkins? Sammon, Hammond, McEveley?????
I've never seen two players as shit as Sammon and Hammond, how we got them both in the same team is mind boggling. Sammon has got the best agent in world football, he's still finding him clubs even now.

If you think about the current Real Madrid side against the Puskas, DiStefano, Gento side or Cruyff’s Ajax team against the current one there may be a point.

A fourth division strike force though? Nah.
