You know we'll go through all the candidates, Bassett will declare them all as being unsuitable for one reason or another, and then suddenly announce he's throwing his hat into the ring.

He'll Throw it high; Throw it long; Throw it hard.

I'm surprised Alex Sabella has been linked yet! We've been through everyone else that's visited the lane in the last 30 years!

Honestly I can't remember any club taking so long to appoint a manager and certainly haven't seen so many names rumoured and linked with the club.

Obviously the club set its heart on McCall, perhaps arrogantly assumed that he would just love to join us. Then him and Southgate knocked us back and they were completely stumped...

Would be preferable to the latest tweet from Paul Walker - Keith Curle to be given a second interview.

I think this is another indication that Paul Walker really hasn't got a clue what is happening

Totally agree, Swiss. Maybe a touch harsh on the 'arrogant ' bit but it would appear that since he turned us down, we have actually started the selection process. We went for our number 1 target, agreed compensation with his club and had talks with him . It wouldn't surprise me if up to this stage, we hadn't approached or interviewed any one else.

I'm pretty sure we would've explored the Southgate and Robinson options too but we probably got the a sense of a lack of interest very quickly.

Now it seems we're scraping the barrel from the later rumours

There's a lot of that arrogance going around at the moment. It seems that a lot of United fans genuinely don't know where we are as a club and what sort of prospect we represent to potential managers and new players.

I think that's the next step for this club.

Tell him he can't go anywhere with Argentina, that international football is on it's way out and nobody cares.

Working with our poor players day in, day out, in a terrible league offers the potential rewards of reaching the Championship, where he can follow that up with a promotion to the Premiership before convincing his friends, Messi, Lavezzi, Banega, Di Maria and Zabaleta that playing for us on a tenth of their current wages is the way forward before taking us to a Champions League Final where we fail to score.

Apart from Wolves we must the best bet to join in the 3rd and all the clubs in the 4th.

At this rate, we may as well just offer season ticket buyers the chance to go in a raffle. Draw one name out every Monday and let that person be manager for the week!

Daily Mail....

Avram Grant could be set for a shock comeback to English football after it emerged the Israeli is in talks to manage Sheffield United.

The League One side are reportedly eager to appoint the former Chelsea boss and talks are underway, although Grant has had to return Israel where he is a special UEFA Ambassador to the European Under 21 Championships.

Grant has not coached in England since being sacked by West Ham in May 2011 after becoming the first ever manager to suffer Premier League relegation in two successive seasons with Portsmouth and the Hammers.

Grant took over the manager's job at Stamford Bridge when Jose Mourinho left the club in September 2007 and led the Blues to second place in the Premier League.

Sadly, Chelsea experienced pain in the Champions League final at the end of the season when they lost 6-5 on penalties to Manchester United.

Danny Wilson was sacked in April with former Blades captain given caretaker charge, but his failure to win promotion has led to chairman Kevin McCabe to search for a more experienced manager.
