I thought that what they actually said was that Heckingbottom had told the players that the new manager will be watching the game. I interpreted that as meaning that whoever ultimately gets the job would be watching the game on the TV, so perform to your best, rather than that the manager had already been chosen and was at the game.on the TV commentary before the game

I watched it mate and my personal opinion is I thought he shouldn't have signed the deal on principle. I doubt he was short of cash from his career either, but I appreciate it's a short career. I don't dislike Hammond and he seems a decent guy; you're also right that anyone would sign it, but it still doesn't sit well with me.Hammond was offered a full time permanent contract by Adkins when he signed on loan for when the loan ended. He signed it and was paid off when Wilder came in. We did ask him about this but didn't press him as the reason he signed it was a) anyone would and b) he was going through some personal stuff at the time and didn't want that airing in the public domain, suffice to say he was worried about his financial future. As it turned out this was with good reason as he hasn't ever found another club.
If it's us then I will be livid. On many fronts. Why clubs offer the manager's jobs at a high level to total novice managers is beyond me. Should start much lower down like what Teddy Sheringham did for example.John Terry is going somewhere (IMHO). he apparently turned down Bristol City, but he'll be off somewhere.
I for one are not ruling out John Terry.

100% and the grace period is important. Not being negative but the first few months will be transitional and we have to be patient. But will we be patient? Some managers will be cut more slack than others for sure.Better not be Terry. Blokes a nob and wouldn't get any grace period from the fans imo.

dont talk about Hal and Nick like that! Both look like someone Liam Neeson would throw off a building for sex trafficking if I'm honest.
Quite possibly 5 weeks to wait still sadly! The League One play off final is on 30th May, if it is to be Appleton as an example it'll be the week after that at the earliest.I don't disagree with your comments - but there is something about big ex players - even we did it years back with Martin Peters of the 66 lot and Preston tried Bobby Charlton.
Recently we have Frank Lampard and next is probably John Terry.
We don't have long to wait

True. Maybe YorkBlade can do Terry v Hecky next, get them out of the running. This thread didn’t age well did it? One can’t get a work permit and the other our intrepid local journo thinks we’re not bothered about![]()
Don’t ask Nixon or Biggs, you’ll be doing a Warnock v Adkins special if you do.The bookies don't usually get it wrong and we just went with the top 2.
Looks like they have on this occasion.
I'll do some digging and if I find out anything I'll share it on the Spurs watchalong.
I’d like to see Clough v Adkins in the style of the Austin Mitchell Yorkshire TV interview with Clough Snr and Revie. With Adkins going “yes, but I wanted to fail more spectacularly than you” and Clough saying “my boys wouldn’t play for you would they”.Don’t ask Nixon or Biggs, you’ll be doing a Warnock v Adkins special if you do.
