These next 2 games are going to extremely tough with Fleck out and in all honesty will probably see us drop out of the play offs.

I just hope we don't have a huge meltdown and keep our heads. We're on a run where nothing is going right and I just hope we are patient with them because this team and management have deserved it. Their confidence will have taken a hit but we are good enough to go on a run and get that back. Whatever happens we won't be far off in January and with a few much needed additions we will come back and give it a real shot I'm sure.

We should beat Sunderland with our under 18s

Preston will be a test

Looking round at their faces on the pitch last night when the late winner went in they looked fuckin ruined.
There will be a reaction at Preston next week ......

I would actually be tempted to play either Caruthers or Duffy in Fleck's role. Caruthers is the slightly more natural choice for the position, but for me he's been a dreadful signing so far. Mostly, down to attitude. I'd give him the responsibility and an ultimatum. Put the hard work in for the team of leave in January.

The obvious change would be for Basham but our defence and attacking play was much better with him slotting in at the back last night. I'd rather keep that as it is and roll the dice. I think we're going to struggle whatever Chris does.

It's a real shame we can't recall Whiteman. He'd be the logical change. I'm not aware of any in the development squad ready to come in?

The only other alternative would be to play Leon as a sole striker, Bash holding in front of a back 5, and flood the midfield. It could work.

If, as may be the case, Basham is out for the PNE game, what do we do then?

We will lose both games at Preston and Villa without Fleck and Coutts.

Might get something against Sunderland but they are much better away than at home so it’s no gimmie.

His first touch last night was to give it to the opposition...I did have high hopes for him, when we bought him but he tries too much fancy footwork, which doesn't always come off...IMHO

At least we shouldn't go down?

I’m still confident we can stay in the top 6,the gungho attitude is a double edged sword though and I would have been happy with a point
last night and said so after flecks dismissal.l’m not sure wilder could change anyway but we are left wide open at times when chasing the game.I would not be surprised if we won the next 3 games,I would be more surprised if we lost them all because that would be a catastrophic
collapse in fortunes.
We have been unfortunate lately but it’s mostly of our own making barring the Coutts loss. There was one team on the pitch last night, we beat ourselves and not for the first time. There are fine margins between getting owt or getting nowt in this league and we are still coming to terms with it.
UTB.

I think we can win them all because even without Fleck, we played well with 10 men. Push Basham into midfield, Jake Wright at CH at all sorted. People need to get some perspective on this recent blip. Watch Blades 2-4 Shrewsbury on YouTube and report back on how this season is going.

I find it difficult to fathom that people are worried about a fan’s meltdown when we’re approaching Christmas in a playoff position. Surely that can’t happen. Surely.

Whenever I think about Preston and Villa I am reminded about the two teams that finished in the bottom two of the 2nd division in 1969-70 season when I first became footy mad

Be pleased with 2 points to be honest.

Then again I’d be happier with 1 win and one defeat.

2 defeats is unthinkable.

Feels like we need to grind out an ugly backs to the wall 1-0 win at Preston. We've lost our best ball players in the middle, although Lundstram is getting better. Nice ball/assist to Leon on Friday although Leon still had a lot to do.

Be happy with 0-0 at pain to just keep a clean sheet ffs.

Other than the part about “when we bought him”, this could easily be about Brooks. In my opinion, Carruthers is a far better choice to play than young David is at the moment.
