Yes it was probably Sheringham that I was thinking about. I remember the Spurs centre forward looking acutely embarrassed. They were all over the shop that night and I think we were 4 nil up after half an hour. Whilst I think we were decent on the night, I seem to remember they were absolutely honking and a disgrace to their fans that night. How we laughed about it in Fannies afterwards.

Saw us lose away by that score line at Man City in 99 and Arsenal in 08.

I have absolutely no recollection of the 4-4 with Exeter. All the league one days just seem a blur.

4-4 v Exeter was the same day that Jimmy Savile died. 3-0 win v 9-man Cardiff, Jade Goody, 2-2 away at Crewe - and that Ben Doane goal - the Queen Mother.

I've never seen a 6-2 before. I'm a bit of a John Matson for this type of trivia. I've seen 8 goals three times before, two 4-4 draws against Birmingham and Exeter and a 5-3 win against Scunthorpe. I've seen nine goals when we beat Brighton 5-4 and Orient 6-3. The most goals I have seen is ten, a 5-5 against Swindon in the play offs and the 7-3 win against Northampton.

I suspect this will be most Blades' first 6-2 win, it hasn't happened since 1955.

Yesterday was the 9th time we've won a League game 6-2, and the 8th at home.

6 of these took place before WW2.

For those still reading - we've lost a League game 6-2 on seven occasions, all away, most recently at Sunderland on 25/4/1979.

We've recorded a 6-2 win in non-competitive matches a further seven times, most recently against Rhyl in a friendly in 1958. 3 of the other 6 came in WW2 league/cup.

We've never won or lost 6-2 in the FA or League Cups, unless you count the aggregate win over Lincoln in the League Cup 1st Round in September 2000. Coincidentally the first leg 6-1 win was the last time we scored 6, prior to the Orient FA Cup game in 2016.

That 4-4 against Birmingham was incredible.

My recollection is that we were 6-0 up but Northampton staged a revival of sorts in the last 20 odd minutes. The ground was full of schoolkids who had received free tickets so they were royally entertained.

I seem to be able to remember all the shit shows, although Ground Zero seems to be between 1978 and 1981 for me; many's the time I've exited the Lane and said, "That was the worst since the Haslam era, that."

! remember a game against Norwich back in the late 40s or early 50s when we beat them 7 nil or it may have been 7-1. as you can see my memory is pretty well shot to pieces that far back. I do remember however, it was lousy weather, the pitch like liquid chocolate, the wind was whistling up the Cop, I was wet through but it didn't matter, I was reveling in it. Oh to be 8 or 9 years old again!
There were also about 50 Norwich fans at the back of the cop, to give them credit, they were still shouting for their team right to the end.(more in derision I think).

I was at the November 22 1952 game, remember the weather was sunny, a bright day, first game chaperone-less but with 4/5 mates from same class.

Thanks PaniniB and SilentB I bow to your superior knowledge's and memories,as I say mine is shot. I think it must have been the Swansea game as do remember their fans were definitely in yellow, and I thought green as well. Sorry both,I will shut up now, still enjoyed the game though, happy muddled memories.
