To get us out of this patch... Seems our old system isn’t cutting it currently and CW has spoke of a plan B but no sight of this so far... and ive seen a lot of posters talk about their ideas for tactics, thought itd be interesting to make it a thread to see what tactical geniuses we have on S2, for ideas on how we could move forwards with the current squad

for what it’s worth, i’d try a 3-2-3-2 out, letting the CDM’s overlap to play on our strengths this season (Ampadu and Berge), CB’s play more traditional defensive roles, with Basham giving cover at CDM as required

something like:
———————rammers———————
———— bash-egan-robinson————-
———-Berge(CDM)-Ampadu(CDM)——
Baldock—-Fleck(CM/CAM)—Stevens—
————Brewster—-McBurnie————

That’s really no different.

Our formation is particularly fluid, looking to create 3 to 2 and sometimes 4 to 3 overloads down the flanks.

Fleck and Berge would most definitely be joining in with that and also, sitting deeper as you suggest when we don’t have the ball.

Having 2 disciplined CDMs that aren’t offering much to us offensively would be, overall, a massive step in the wrong direction as it would further limit our already questionable creativity !!!!

I think we should try winning a game, when we used to do it a lot we really enjoyed it.

The players made songs up for the fans to sing and were a jolly bunch.

Wilder drank whichever Italian lager he was into at the time from small green bottles.

The social media team didn’t have to talk about “aerial duels” all the time.

Since we’ve stopped we have become miserable, let’s just win.

Our problem is that we have built a squad that can only play one system. The only tweek we could make is play a number 10 behind the front two, but our options are very limited in players that could play there.

Put the ball in their net and keep it out of ours.

It's not our old system that isn't working

It's the new system with no attacking wing backs, no overlapping centre backs, and an obsession with playing backwards all the way back to the goalkeeper, so that he can hoof it up the field that isn't working

Completely agree... It's like they've gone overly serious... shit it's our 2nd season, better buck up. They are over thinking tactics and it's plain to see. Last season was like freedom and they enjoyed it they went out to win for the team and the fans. The fans have gone from the stands now. Obvious connection. No motivation. No one screaming in the players faces "WAKE THE FUCK UP!"

FFS just start sharp, I don't care who plays as long as they are sharp and not ponderous on the ball.

It needs someone to remind all the squad that they are good enough and deserve to be competing at this level.
Remind them how well they did last year and to have belief, trust your team mates.
Wilder needs to hear it as well.

We aren't playing our "old system" though.....we are mainly playing hoofball.....

Having said that though i have been suggesting a holding midfield pairing of Ampadu and Berge for a while.......
