The Blades have become the first club in the country to take advantage of new Football League rules concerning mixed sex teams by agreeing a deal to bring local girl, Rachel Unitt to the club for the 2007/08 season.

The 24 year-old England Womens International is currently turning out for Everton Ladies, but will play a key part in Neil Warnocks first-team plans next term. "We would have been fools to turn this opportunity down," said Neil today. "Rachel is a talented player and is looking forward to representing her home-town club in The Football League and becoming one of, if not the, first female player to play Professional football

"I certainly wouldn't rule out signing more female players if I feel that they will add to the squad. It would be foolish not to take advantage of these new rules."

i might sign up for that free google broadband before i go and watch her ;), although i do wish it was true she is fit in both senses and a good player
