Whilst I would have preferred Sheffield City Council Traffic Wardens or Sheffield Inland Revenue as a sponsor at least we got a posh car dealer's money - not very often that happens. As long as its a lot and its put to good use I'm ok with it.

Thanks Jon Bon and Advisor,

I'm making connexion between two threads here, but I may have got things wrong as usual. Wasn't an early 1980s shirt sponsor 'BENTLEYS' and was it his family's firm? so sponsoring the team may seem like finishing family business for the Hollands a bit like when George W invaded Iraq and tried to finish the job Bush senior had started?

Btw did Bentley's actually sell Bentleys? or is it a misnomer like 'Pumpkin' cafés on railway station platforms where you can't actually buy pumpkin pie?

and also watching what we are saying!

Various opinions on here....some good,,,some funny....some errr.. New shirt sponsor - John Holland Sales http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/new-shirt-sponsor-john-holland-sales.35104/… via @s24su
So then John Holland, as you're watching, let's have a bit of fun.

Following on from the idea of having BMW, Mercedes etc on our shirts, what would you choose as a car to represent our players?

I'll start us off with Scougall. He'd be an Ariel Atom V8 cause he's small, fast and agile.

I'm all for having a local company on our shirt, very positive about it actually! I would like the size and design of the logo to be correct though, like for any sponsor on a shirt. It'd be a shame for the design to be a rushed and hurried second thought.

Has anyone slagged DB logistics off yet? If so don't bother ,Dave Clarkson the MD is a long standing Blade I went to quite a few away games with him back in the early 80s ,in fact his Dad Bert had the corner shop on Smithywood Rd and ran a mini bus from there to many away games ,Stoke being the most memorable when they tried to overturn the bus with us in it.

Well done to Hollands for becoming the sponsor and investing their money into SUFC.

If indeed they are reading this thread, rest assured, if I ever win the lottery, Hollands will be the first place I go to spend a few bob on my first Bentley/Lambo/Masser/Ferrari (delete as appropriate) :)

Only thing that concerns me with the logo is that it's set against a black background and if it's too large will take the emphasis away from what is probably the best shirt we've had in years

I thought the logo was black against a white background? Lets hope it doesn't ruin the shirt, no reflection on the sponsor itself.... although I have a little more faith with Adidas than Macron

Looks like a good deal to me. It's quite bizarre that a local company wanting to invest and forge a partnership is getting some bad press. Making of fun of the guy who has just put his money where his mouth is just about sums up the problems investors have with us.

Good luck to em.
Nice touch that its a bladesman putting the money up for a year.
The black background on the logo will look smart with the new brand.

Bentley's were the main Vauxhall dealers in Sheffield I think Vorpal Blade.

Quite an unexpected deal, I'm sure we all expected some middle eastern company, but instead we've stayed local. Not disappointed, but I hope the logo looks ok on the shirt.

Mark Holland, the MD was the guy that was shot in 2005 by burglars.

Good luck to them and let's hope we get some decent discounts off the cars as there's a really nice Aston Martin of their website ;)
Swiss, have you see Mark Hollands tweet, presumably in response to this post?

Always good to have a local sponsor and good to see them interacting and even taking the more interesting "welcomes" in good spirit.

Sadly, I'm not sure their wares are in my current price range, otherwise I'd pop in for a coffee and a browse :)

Yes Bentleys did sponsor one of the early 80's kits. If my memory serves me right, they were a Subaru dealership back then.

Loving that John Holland are into all this social media with the fans. Fantastic stuff. I'm still waiting for your 'Which car represents each player' though ;)

Can't see what the issue is myself? Or would people like wonga or something??

Any unto the cars. My S40 would smoke the lot of em ;-)
