Second half of the season has started, it was a great first half that ended a bit disappointingly.

Emotions are raw after a Steel City Derby but there are lots of things to be grateful for and more importantly to look forward to.

We have consolidated our place in La Lega by January (technically about three more wins all season to be sure)
We are back in a play-off spot
Wilder has done some good business given the financial constrains of the board. We have 4 new and exciting players to strengthen the squad.
Starting next game we will see a new Sheffield United with strength in depth

Who would have taken this at the start of the season? I bloody well would!

It's been a learning curve, Tuffty and the demoralised underperforming club and divided fans he inherited are in a great position to push on to greater things. We are not at risk of being drawn into the religation league like our porcine friends, we are not lumbered with overpriced players that will be almost impossible to move on to build a new team like we've done.

The futures bright and this city IS ours this morning and there's more to look forward to, the second half of the season in better shape than we were for the first!

I'm appeh.

I said before the season started, if we could get more points in the derbys than Wednesday and we have a push for the playoffs it'll have been a brilliant season.

Well we've taken the city back and we are in touching distance of the top 6 so I'm chuffed so far.

New players to bed in, then hopefully go on a nice run that's gets us up there.

Great post, and let’s not forget to mention the board, who have clearly backed the manager, Leonard & Holmes were wilders top targets and we appear to have them both in now, we may sell brookes and this may be where the money has come from, but there you go.... at least we’re getting a decent slice on players if so..

Agree with that.

And agree with wilders post match assessment. We have been playing well without getting the points in the last few weeks - but we can’t complain and let the season fizzle out to mid table . Just need to be a bit more clinical and hopefully we will be with the new additions to the side.

With the exception on Bolton and Preston we haven’t played badly imo. And have had some tricky games to get through in this period without our most influential player.

We now have the chance to set again and kick on hopefully!

What a great post. A good read after the slight disappointment from not getting 3 points last night!!. It puts everything into perspective and makes me realise how far we've come in such a short period of time!!. Hopefully we can push on and get one of those playoff spots. Wilder & knill will get the new signings up to speed in the next few weeks!!. I'll be back at bdtbl in a few weeks to cheer the lads on.. Utb

With the 3 Good signings made and with possible further off loads made, things still look bright in S2. Wilders after match interview made it clear United will not rest on their achievements from the first half of the season. Its more about belief. We are better than most of the players performances and results during the Christmas period under achieving have shown. Get the fire back in their bellies and watch us go. 2 losses in the Squad seem to have knocked us back ( Coutts & Brooks ). Time to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and show the passion game in Game out that our super Manager shows, while still giving respect to the opposition. Onwards and Upwards. With Belief and Passion this Squad can go Far. UTB / COYRAWW.

Really interested to see how these new signings fit in and it does seem like a new start in a way. We are now clearly highly respected as a decent and established Championship side which has caused its own issues for us but I'm excited to see how we try and overcome it.

There is much to improve on but what a base we have given ourselves.

Good point, we lost coutts, brooks and fleck for 3 games during the xmas period that included some really tough games.

We've now got fleck back, brooks soon hopefully and soon to be 4 new players.

Well put B56.
Last nights game was a watershed for this season. Came too soon to integrate the new players, and anything can happen in derbies.
Like you say the second part of the season starts now. The squad looks better now (with the exception of Coutts) than it did in august.
A week to get everybody up to speed, then off to Norwich to avenge the result they stole at the Lane, and start the run to the line. 10 wins and the odd draw should see us in the PO's, very achievable.
