New Regime - Disappointment

As for the money coming in, I've covered that on a thread elsewhere. It won't/hasn't stretched as far as you might think it has, particularly as we don't get it as a lump sum.
We'll get in the same structure that we'll have to outlay should we buy. So I'm not sure it's relevant?

It's as if some people are incapable of pointing the finger of blame at the current ownership. It's either "ah but McCabe..." or they go into total fantasy and pretend it's the bidders already in control when they aren't.
In order to blame there has to be something wrong.
This squad as the first step in rebuilding the club looks fine to me.

We are on minus 2 points after a woeful season and I would say a less balanced first team than the one we had that got out of league one after 6 seasons with half a billion of tv money put into the club + gate and sponsorships.

Some doing

So what is wrong now, rather than last season ? We are financially stable and have a good squad with promising youngsters coming through. The football being played is positive and good to watch. I for one am satisfied at present.

We are playing Hamer on the wing and have zero depth upfront and our main guy has never scored more than 15 in a season. Squad is full of unproven kids

They don’t own the club yet FFS.
There's lots of people saying it was the new ownership controlling transfers late in the window. Before anyone says anything, yes I know that's not allowed officially, but I'd be amazed if they've had nothing to do with transfer strategy over the transfer window.

Whether it's the new ownership or old, Wilder was talking about new signings this time last week and in midweek yet no one came in and it's dismayed most of us as to why no one came in and leaving us very short up top.

I think we'll be between 5th and 10th up to January. Hopefully we reinforce the team in January and go from there. I thought a few weeks ago we were going to push top two but not as it stands.

So last week Wilder said we’ll be looking at Prem loans, a week later we’ve let 2 more go with no one else in.

Is this a sign that everything was sorted with the new owners as contracts were getting crossed so we weren’t able to make signing, or have the owners so keep quiet, we aren’t spending anything until we have our knees under the table.

Either way this team is not top 6, we’re looking at 6-10, if we can get to around 8-10 for that Jan window and push on to the top 6b then great.

I do fear after being a yoyo club, we’re heading to be a a Norwich..

Exiting times… not…..
Good post. Have you ever tried to fuck your own ass with your own cock. Try it, then reply in April

Everyone knows we have 2 loans, but if the players available aren’t ideal, do you want us to sign them anyway?

I’d rather the opportunity is given to our young lads than a EPL yoof who’s guaranteed minutes but doesn’t give a fuck

We’ve cleared out the deadwood, brought in some good players and no one has gone that’s a loss

Stop looking for something to fuckin whinge about

I say just fuck the season off. Finish 20th, make almost no effort and cunts like you will be happy. AMOEBA
I think we will be about 10th to 7th or so but I don't blindly think this squad is perfect because its nice to think that way!

I guess you are not enjoying watching this season or have you given it a miss ?

Think we have an entertaining ( to a degree no mgw or ndiaye) but flawed side. Doesn't mean it's one that achieves what we need it to.

This squad is definitely top 6 Wilder has assembled a good mix of good signings and youth can he manage and motivate them remains to be seen

Great responses, not quite what I said though…

It seems pretty obvious that our takeover situation has meant our transfer activity has been a bit disorganised, 2 lists, nobody quite sure who's making the decisions, uncertainty around funds etc. I get it's frustrating, but in the grand scheme of things we fully expected this season to be a transition season at the start of the window, we know the Prince doesn't have the funds to take us forwards and so we have to go through this situation.

But then we've got people judging the new owners before they've actually been able to make any decisions, they've been given no grace, just a straight lack of trust or faith. They haven't had the chance to prove themselves yet and I don't think they should be judged by this transfer window in anyway, everything suggests they have been unable to affect funding or decisions.

I'd hate to imagine how difficult it would be if they have a long term strategy, I'd probably have to leave this forum, there are too many of us that have no patience and expect everything now. When you look at teams like Palace, or Brentford, they've taken years and years to build a strategy.

We're really well placed for that type of success, but I honestly think our fans are our biggest downfall at times.

I think the new regime are going to sack Wilder soon and go big in January with a new guy.

What is this? Moaning about new owners before they have taken over the club is a new one on me. I suppose after the saga with Henry Mauriss and then the Tingo bloke (can't even remember his name) we can view prospective new owners with a little suspicion but FFS.
I didn't expect us bringing in any big signings if you are the Prince you are not going to put money in in a big way what he has done is to keep the club ticking over and competitive in this league. I can't say we are top two or even play off certs but we have kept hold of our best players brought in some good players for little money to add to our crop of young players. Disappointed we have few options up front and are a bit light in other areas I suspect we will find out soon who the new owners are and we can judge their ambitions in the JTW until then we can't really moan about them.

Weird window … some good… some bad

Good

Not selling our prized assets

Getting good money for Osula

Managing to break even on some duds we brought in last season

Bringing in some exciting young talent - however that was done (loans, frees, transfers)

Bad

Very light in certain positions particularly up front

No leaders brought to the club

That’s my biggest concern zero leaders. We lowered the age of the starting 11 but with that all the leaders went. Good balance longer term but we could do with some more.

This window is NOT on the new owners. We are still owned by Prince A for now. Anyway I’m ok with business. Kept, Hamer, Arblaster, Anel and recruited O’Hare, Cooper, O’Hare, Moore & Souttar who will be great at this level. For me not a top 2 squad, but I expect top 6. If not new owners (if it happens) will make a change at the top & maybe recruit a little in January.
Where the hell are we going to fit 2 o'hares in

It sometimes feels that the notion of having a top six team ignores the comparative nature of the league.

If we aren’t a top 6 team, my question is, what are the 6 teams above us that are?

I’ll give you Leeds and Burnley. Burnley are weaker than when they came down but have added a little though players like the South African lad up front I find ok but not cheat codes by any means. The like of Laurent replacing Berge for example is a massive downgrade.

Leeds had lost all their chest codes apart from Gnonto and have a few gambles in there that may or may not come off.

But who else is supposedly above us? Luton? Played 4 and not won once yet and lost by far their best player in Barkley after a somewhat fortuitous promotion in the first place I.e. plays offs and miles behind the top two.

So who else? West Brom who got the piss knocked out of them by the Pigs at the end of last season? Added a couple but also lost a couple too. Norwich, who we drew with away, hadn’t won yet and who we were more than good value with a point against.

Watford and Sunderland early pace setters, but Watford lost arguably their best player to Girona and same for Sunderland losing Clarke.

Overall the top teams took a decent hit with departures but we kept Anhmedhodzic, Souza, Arblaster and co.

I think we’ll be up there. We might miss having a further striker but then maybe Campbell might come off?

Either way I don’t see us out of the end of season running post window at all.
