which new players would you like to see in a blades shirt next season?

i'm thinking of realistic targets....

i liked the look of Freeman at Stevenage but would be surprised if a championship club isn't in for him

Not heard that much of either to be honest - is that a good or bad thing?

We don't know what percentage of their wage would have still been paid by Rangers though so could still be way out of our league.

Just hope we are not fed the same line we were given after the p/o final against Burnley - the reason we hadn't signed anyone decent was because most of the leg work signing players is done in May whilst we were too busy with the play offs

I think the futures of Williamson & McDonald need to be priority before much of our recruitment starts.

According to the above article, we have to "submit our budget and player costs to the league by June 25th and if our player budget is over 65% of turnover, we can't sign any more players until it drops below that percentage".

What this means in practice for United is that we really need to plug the holes in our squad BEFORE June 25th or we won't be able to at all. Based on previous transfer windows, the Championship clubs won't make their move until the end of August, so we won't be able to offload some of the high earners like Monty and Quinn until then. Without doing that, we'll be struggling to get below the 65% threshold.

So what we should do is, sign a few in early June (including Williamson and McDonald if possible). Then offload a few in August. Then plug any remaining gaps with loanees once/if we get below the 65% threshold.

Sounds like a plan. Im in.

So in essence we could go tranfer crazy, end up way above the 65% but having gambled on being able to offload some of the high earners at a later date?

Alternatively, Sothall_Blade we need to submit a budget without the high earners we're going to try and shift on. It'd be much easier to get below 65% if Nick Montgomery isn't included, for example.

Not as daft as it sounds. The only sanction is a transfer embargo which we could well have imposed anyway.
The alternative is to buy nobody before 25th June at which point the embargo kicks in.
Then not be able to offload anyone or buy anyone either. So we start the season with one senior striker!

I'm fairly sure it won't work like that. If they're still on the payroll, we'll have to include them. ;)
