After this weekend we face 2 teams with new Managers ( Typical ) West Sham and Arsenal , Sham have just won 4-0 and Arsenal are 1-0 up and hammering Manure at the moment, its always harder the Sheffield United way !!

Its always much harder second half the season in the premier league
The big teams that are struggling get new managers and new players and the rest shithouse the fuck out of every game they play

You have to be able to adapt in the top league to survive

I did think pants when I saw West Ham sacked Pellegrini. It was similar with Watford and Pearson. I still think we'll do West Ham though, the players will be well up for it and I'm sure the atmosphere will be great, and I fancy us to give them a much tougher game than Bournemouth who are really crap right now.

Wilder always seems to adapt to every league and he always tends to have a better 2nd half of the season compared to his 1st half.
If we do pick up more points 2nd half then we have a great chance of Europe.

The rules are 5th place enter the Europa cup + the FA cup winners + the EFL cup winners.
However if any of the cup winners have already qualified for Europe then the 6th placed or even the 7th placed team might also qualify for the Europa Cup.
Last season Wolves finished 7th but still qualified due to Man City winning the cups.

It would be a shame if we don't and finish lower mid table
It will still be a remarkable achievement but the amount of complaining and the billy big bollox attitude will probably be a big chink in our armour next season

Obvious solution - sack Wilder and bring in a new manager in time for those games...

We tried that when we sacked Wilson of course. And that was because our away form was slightly better than our home form. (Like it is now). Although we had played more away games than home games, but let’s not allow the facts to spoil a good sacking).

Get 4 points in January and it's a good result. Rest of the season is easier.

Also this season is going to be a record high for relegated teams. Norwich are fucked but everyone else is beating each other including some of the so called the top sides, we need 45 to stay up. This season as much as it's been brilliant isn't safe yet.

Not for the first time, I am puzzled by a reply to a post of mine. My fault for being flippant and serious at the same time, I think. There are in my view 2 apparent truths:
1. New managers seem to bring better results.
2. Wilder is God, and nobody could do better at the Lane than him.
For the avoidance of ambiguity, point 2 trumps point 1 in all this. We have had all sorts of managers in the past, from very good to very bad, But I am beginning to question the assumption that no individual is bigger than than the club - it is beginning to be impossible to imagine the club without him.
Sorry if that response is a bit 'heavy' - but the ride with Wilder/Knill really is something else.

How about we sack Wilder ever week on a Monday and reinstate him on a Thursday so that we get the 'new manager bounce'?

I’d taken your “sack Wilder” as being in jest of course and I gave another example of a ridiculous sacking (with some similarity in terms of away form being better than home form) to illustrate that it doesn’t work.

That’s all really!

Although I’m not certain about your point number 1? I suspect the evidence doesn’t back that up.

I remember reading an interesting book on football myths a few years ago. It disproved, with facts. a few common myths. One of them being “new manager honeymoon period” which the evidence doesn’t support.

The new effect usually works with an initial reaction but soon fades back to form. We'll destroy West Spam and get a point at the Emirtaes library.

I think we'll be lucky to get a point up at yours, new manager bollox or not.
Can't really tell much from today against Bournemouth. They had a big injury list.
Definitely looks like Pelboy had lost the dressing room though.
Do you think you'll be buying in January or the Summer?
There's no way I can see you getting dragged down into a relegation battle. Something would have had to have gone drastically wrong, for that to now happen.
Be careful about wanting to qualify for the Europa though. It's more of a curse, than a blessing, imo.

From a distance it looked as though he was complacent. He’s done it all and it apeared he was going through the motions, just keeping a mid table team in station.

Thank fuck Pearson didn’t go to Wendy 🤫

Arteta had them up for it today, and comes across well

Moyes is a dinosaur, who's players came up against a Bournemouth team who are on their arse with injuries.

We won't fear either, but I expect Arsenal away to be a tougher gig than it was at the Lane. We'll murder the Sham.

On the subject of Bournemouth, their next run of fixtures are absolutely huge

True. Bournemouth are piss-poor and Man. U were pathetic. I expect both Arse and Sham will be having one of their 'off days' when they play us. Arteta is unproven and Moyes is shit.

If you look at the immediate form of all clubs on taking on a new manager the evidence does not support that a change of manager brings about a statistical improvement in results. Of course, for a few clubs it does, but it's very much the minority. However, football fans tend to be selective in finding examples to support the theory - and disregard the vast majority of cases that don't.

It's not just football fans either. I once heard about a Chairman of a club who had seen their city rivals sack their manager and bring a new manager in, close towards the end of the season. The upturn in results was so remarkable that when his own team hit a bit of an indifferent patch of form, towards the end of the following season, he decided to try the same trick, to see if the "honeymoon" period would work for him too. It didn't. Statistically it was never going to, but he didn't really understand statistics or much at all really. He carried on sacking and hiring managers until he eventually got lucky. His luck didn't last too long though. He sold half the club for a £1 then tried to pull a stunt to force the other party out, which backfired on him and left him with millions of lost revenue, potentially.

If you believe in luck and superstition then it probably won't serve you well in the long term. ;)

Nowt to worry about the new manager bounce sometimes doesn't last too long, if they are very lucky 3-4 months tops, ask Gary Monk.

Not only new manager at West Ham looks like Brookings had a word at Stockley Park. Penalty given when that tosser Noble kicked the floor. And a straight red over turned to a yellow , one of the worst tackles seen this season. Hope we beat these tossers, just hate West Ham , Bobby Moore and not forgetting Brooking .

Ah yes, sacking Wilson without a plan b. Another McCabe master stroke.

Nothing speaks louder about a former manager than an immediate uplift in form when he’s sacked, IMO.

When the pork sacked Megson they replaced him with a very experienced manager with a track record that included some previous success. KM replaced Wilson with a rookie. Yet another long odds gamble he took and then cried when it didn't come in.
