Pigs have got tje new manager majic at moment. just wondering how long it will last tho. Most managerial changes get a good response but how long can it last? Best this season must go to oneill at sunderland but worst probably sir neil at the dirties. We have just got to keep doing what we have all season and im sure the pigs new found form will falter....

It seems to be lasting too long for my opinion! Although they have to play inform teams like Brentford, Carlisle and Colchester before the end of the season

Well I wish they'd hurry up about it, because there aren't many games left for it to happen!

We have to accept the fact that there's very little between the teams now. They have some good players and did some good business in the loan window and they have a decent manager. We have to keep on winning - we can't wait for the Owls to screw up. Lady Luck may yet play a part in the form of a bad refereeing decision, a crucial injury or two, or just a freak goal.

At least we don't have Warnock to wind up the refs. But will be lose Ched before the season ends?

I certainly agree that we have to keep winning. That is the only way we are going to keep hold of second place. There is little sign that Wednesday are going to mess up, and I do not fancy Colchester to cause them any problems next Saturday. Well beaten today and no wins in the last 9, whereas Wednesday have won 7 out of the last 8. Away win there I'm afraid.

Surely the best new manager syndrome must be Wilson. It still doesn't seem to have worn off (fingers well and truly crossed). Massive change in style, massive improvement. Whilst I'm worried the pigs won't slip up, if we keep winning, and it's a hopeful if, it will be irrelevant.

I don't think we can rely on Colchester, Carlisle or Brentford to do us any favours IMO. With the run they're on and the squad they have at present, i hate to say it, but, i think they'll win all of their remaining games.
We HAVE to win all our games IMO to clinch second spot.

If they (or we) win all the remaining games it'll be remarkable. It only takes a red card or a dodgy penalty and things spin on their axis. That's why Saturday was so nervy - Bournemouth offered nowt whatsoever until something freaky happened. Then chaos was unleashed.

Also, on a brighter note, I only saw Wendy's first half vs Oldham on the tele today, but they were very fortunate to go in leading.

I hear ya JD. Maybe i'm being too pessimistic.
I think it's this whole thing with us kicking off after them recently.
I'll feel better after three points tommorrow night!!:)

I think Wednesday will win all their remaining games with the run they're on at the minute. Can't see us getting a win at MK Dons, probably a draw, which means we need to win the other 4. If I've worked it out correctly, that will put us on the same points? Which means it'll come down to goal difference. At the minute we've got the advantage but 8 goals could be overturned in 5 games, especially if Wednesday continue to keep clean sheets. It's going to be a nerve wracking final day of the season.

Sorry to say but my gut feeling is that the pigs will finish 2nd. Idon't think we can win all the last few games. We are not that lucky. The pigs are a lucky team things will go for them but not for us. I hope I am wrong, but having said that we might have a change of fortune with the play offs.

On the other hand, if the pigs were away at Rochdale tonight, would you doubt they'd win?

Same for us, massive following, we're in form, playing a poor team. There can be no excuses.

Forget Wednesday's current, ours is just as good. They've won their last FOUR consecutive games.

So have WE!

If we win our next FIVE games, it doesn't matter what Wednesday do.

That's called the blades way! Does bad luck last forever?

On the bit of the game I saw yesterday there is no way the pigs will win all their remaining matches, for long periods they looked poor and the atmosphere at the sty was like a morgue. Some strange results yesterday the win V Bournemouth now looks a lot better, strange how we think we are worse than we are and that the pigs are better than they are. Could it be the constant bombardment from the local press playing up anything the pigs do playing on our minds ( I see Radio Sheff are at it again this very minute, they have a guy down at the sty where there are long queues for Brentford tickets, all we hear is how massive they are needing to camp out overnight to get tickets, could sell the allocation 4 times over blah blah blah What they don't tell you is the pigs are so backwards they do not have a loyalty scheme in place due to years and years of never needing one) Jeez we don't get everything right but we are light years ahead of our porcine friends.

>We HAVE to win all our games IMO to clinch second spot
umm no we don't .. do the math.. four wins and a draw would send us up on goal difference.. unless they go and win three games five nil.. it has got to the stage where the points are irrelevant now.. it is the 'position' that is important.. as long as we end up higher than them (by whatever convoluted scenario), it doesn't matter 'cos huddersfield are gone.. which also means we won't have to play the pigs in the playoff final

>umm no we don't .. do the math..

Do the math? Do the feckin MATH! Are you some kind of illiterate US TV junkie?
You don't study Mathematic, you study mathematics. How can it be Math?
Next you will be calling Simmo a Goal Minder or Harry a Defensive Line Backer.
Or worse, using the word, "Soccer." Ugghh!

Agree with your general point, though.

Agreed had Oldham been more clinical infront of goal yesterday it would of been squeeky bum time.

The big lad Leira picked up a knock at the end of the game but fortunately for Wednesday Jones returns from suspension on Saturday.

I think Jones will be hard pressed to replace Llera in their team after the last two games.
Was it serious enough for him to miss games. From what I saw he kicked the studs of an oppo players boot when clearing. That is very painful and can lead to severe bruising, which lasts for a long time, but normally a few shots of cortesone gets you over it for another 90 mins.

And I suppose you never ever say, "the lights were red", do you? :D

And I suppose you never ever say, "the lights were red", do you? :D

Or that classic sign "Use both lanes" - how inconsiderate would that be?
I can use either but not feckin both as I don't drive a quarry dumper.

Incidently, "the lights" refer to a set of lights. Clearly not all can be red but if one is, then the lights (i.e. the set of them) can be said to be "red" or "on red" - so what's your point? ;)

Let's put a stop to this paranoia. The Pigs are not Barcelona. They are big, strong and mostly well organised. That's not enough. They will not win all their remaining games. No way; No How; Not Never; It won't happen! The first slip comes on Saturday with more to follow.

The point is that logic has very little to do with language use and conventions.

Also....is a set of lights one unit of three or four units of three? Point is, nobody really knows.

The deciding factor in this run-in will be, in my opinion, a judge and jury. It's sad, but it's probably true. :(

umm no.. i have a degree in math(s)? actually :D .. i was wondering if that would set someone off :D
yeah ok you got me.. it's our lass with all of this NCIS and Criminal Minds and Bones and Alcatraz and yadda yadda.. i'm more of a 'soviet storm, war in the east' man myself.. apologies

They have pace going forward but I have to say its a bit aimless. Johnson and Antiono just run head down with ball and see where they end up.

They don't have much pattern to their play and its a combo of hit and run or just run.

Wednesday are better than the dross at the bottom of the league, same as us. They are able to match sides like Huddersfield and us by using their strengths: pace and power.

They've been on a great run of form recently but, Huddersfield aside, they've not really had any testing games.

Since Jones took over:

Bury (H) 4-1
United 4-0 Bury

Bournemouth (H) 3-0
United 2-1 Bournemouth

Notts County (A) 2-1
County 2-5 United

Walsall (H) 2-2
United 3-2 Walsall

Orient (A) 1-0
Orient 1-1 United

Preston (H) 2-0
United 2-1 Preston

Huddersfield (A) 2-0
Huddersfield 0-1 United

Oldham (H) 3-0
United 2-3 Oldham

Overall Records:

United: P8 W6 D1 L1 F20 A10
Weds: P8 W7 D1 L0 F19 A4

So the only real difference is that ludicrous game against Oldham. If we'd won that 3-0 - and we had the chances to do that - the records would be identical in all but goals scored/conceded.
