When you pick a reserve team you deserve all you get.
Humiliating? Not really.
But it wasn't the reserve team today Swiss, it was put out as the first team representing the club and it's supporters in what is supposedly English footballs premier competition.
It is literally our worst cup result ever.
That's not OTT, it's a fact.

Er,,,, let me think.... Summat happened the day after Xmas in 1979 was it?What is our worst defeat ever then?
Back in 1981 I witnessed the Blades get soundly beaten by non-league Altrincham. certainly thought that was the most humiliating defeat I'd ever witness.
Well today Barnet proved me wrong
NB Altrincham were the top non-league side then
I don’t give a shit about the cups.
Being hammerd at Stevenage in the league and Yeovil beating us in the play offs was more humiliating.
I went today and Freeman diverted the ball that was heading towards there player totally unmarked and prevented a certain goal. We where totally useless with the ball and without it.Well that may have ended a couple of careers at Bramall Lane. Out second team should be hammering a non league side and it sounds like they could have beaten us by more!
ThanksFeel sorry for the poor buggers who were there.
There we go..
Ooh go on, explain your cryptic insult.
Not an insult at all! I was highlighting the point that you value League over Cup. That is fair enough, it's a difference of opinion.
QPR will be at a huge disadvantage having put their strongest team put to beat Leeds today. The poor dears only have six days to recover.
Over a season it makes a difference. Players play with a higher intensity and clearly get fatigued whether we like it or not. Not playing our first eleven has given our first team an opportunity to refresh and more importantly no one broke a leg so no one will be missing.
I’m not happy at today’s result and there is no doubt a lot of questions should be asked, but if we win next weekend it all gets forgotten in the grand scheme.
The same people who aren’t bothered about the FA Cup will be the same people moaning at where the game has gone wrong, not realising that the FA Cup is what football is all about, giving the people what really matter in football the chance to pit themselves against better players, trying to cause an upset. I loved watching the Newport vs Leicester game earlier and I support none of them.
Some people are only wanting to see the rigours of the league where there’s more cheats than a bunch of bigamists. What’s happened to the proper football supporter these days? Why take a competition like the FA cup with such contempt? Why can’t we go to win both competitions?
Watched channel 4 news tonightThat didn’t lead the sports news the following morning.
This one will.
You're last point, especially, is spot on. As fans, we forget the last game and move on to the next. I can only look forward to the League challenge now.
But next year? I'm tempted to say I will join the thousands of others and not bother with the FA Cup, but doubtless I will be there.

Leicester was a big shock but other teams through were just listed as qpr millwall doncstr and barnet . So its hardly noticed
Let's remember Barnet were until 2 years ago a league club and Luton were a conference club for 6 years . It's not like either are dyed in the wool non league outfits
So you actually want United to lose, and you have the cheek to come on this forum criticising other posters WOW just WOWThose cup games under clough condemned us to another year in league one I've hated the cups ever since so the best result we could have hoped for was to lose
Our squad is performing at optimum.and can't cope with extra games
Didn't want us to draw and dreaded us winning and having to play another game
I witnessed the defeat to non-league Port Vale in 1911 and that was pretty bad. But today’s result is worse than that. I have been trying, since about 4pm today, to tear up my season ticket but the bloody thing won’t rip! I did manage though to rip out the mantelpiece and threw the carriage clock, through the window. The bloody thing is in the garden now and it’s still belting out it’s Westminster chimes every quarter of an hour! And we were a Fourth Division side then.
This is our most humiliating defeat ever no question.
