I live with this dilemma every day. As a southerner, I wish I was from Sheffield. I love the city, the culture, its history (and obviously the blades).

My question is though, am I allowed to call it a breadcake? should I still with calling it a roll or a bap? Am I exhibiting cultural appropriation if I do?

not sure how I sleep at night sometimes...
It’s ’at neet’ FFS, at neet.

A "jennel" (also often spelled "ginnel" or "gennel") is a dialectal term, primarily used in Northern England, especially in Yorkshire and Lancashire, to describe a narrow passageway or alleyway.
Here are some key characteristics:
* Location: Jennels are typically found between houses, particularly terraced rows.

Oh, and the new away kit is nice 🤣

Maggots.

Some would take a different view.

Cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of elements of a minority culture by members of the dominant culture, often in a way that is considered disrespectful, stereotypical, or exploitative, and without proper understanding or acknowledgment of the original culture. It frequently involves power dynamics, where a dominant culture takes from a marginalized culture, sometimes even against the wishes of the originating culture.

Apologies for polluting the thread .
I think I was making the same point.

You also have the likes of Pulp and Arctic Monkeys, from nominally working class backgrounds, being co-opted by the middle classes of Sheffield, effectively dancing for the coins they scatter their way.

Or something like that.

Tramlines has to be the tackiest festival going. Feels like its run by some mid 20s social media obsessive melt who thinks because it's in Sheffield they have to inject northern related rubbish in to everything, I'm sure if you look hard enough you'll find a bottle of "Hendos" on there. Not only has it become popular for festival goers to wear bucket hats (for some reason) I saw people last weekend with ones that said things like "be reyt" and "reyt good" ln it. Has to be the same tit who works in the errr... bins department that decided the next initiative to stop people littering is to plaster them with slogans like "chuck it in" and "Purrit int bin"
I do like that Tramlines kit tbh. Seems like most festivals have released a football shirt this year (the Glastonbury one is quality). There is a bit of a football/fashion/music crossover going on at the moment. Paul Heaton’s gig at the lane had some amazing football shirts for sale which I bitterly regret not purchasing.

I share your thoughts on tramlines though. Not been since it moved to Hillsborough Park. Just a cash grab now (not to mention the unethical investments of the now owners) Nothing to do with the old festival any more no matter how many times they put “Reyt Good” on a t shirt or drag low quality local pastiche acts onto the stage. I think it’s more of a hindrance than a help to local businesses in Swillsborough as well.

I don’t blame people for going, they do book some decent acts amongst a lot of filler (Pulp for example was a coup) and it’s something to do on your doorstep. It’s not for me though.
