New keeper incoming?

Well , we can list him , but good luck getting a buyer.
It's like thrown money down a 'Brewster Drain'.
A deep dark drain from which it's impossible to dredge up anything.
Totally, 4 years on a PL contract. Even with reductions for relegation he's going to be on a lot as he wd have been on good money at Atletico Madrid. Given his displays this season who is going to sign him and pay him what he wants?

Ok,I know nothing on him but he's highly rated, young and going on a free and it would really annoy Wrexham!

Given we’re going into the season likely without any senior keepers if Grbic is sold bringing a lad like this in on a free would seem a no brainer.

I've seen enough Swedish football over the past few years and not been convinced by any of the goalkeepers over there.

All tend to lack aggression and decisiveness, stay rooted to their lines and are unwilling to come and claim the ball - lots of flapping at high balls. If Robin Olsen is still the best they have to offer then I wouldn't take anyone who's sat underneath him because they must be dreadful.

Feels like the Schmeichels have hoovered up all of Scandinavia's goalkeeping talent between them.

We are signing De Gea on a free.

Nah seriously hasn't he missed an entire season even though he's been fit?
Surely a club will take him this summer.

Well these are things that will tell us the truth of what is going on! If the Prince & United World were behind this signing maybe the decision was made to pull him out of the 1st team spotlight until the close season to stop things in regard to his reputation getting any worse! To a point. Wilder needs this job so badly now, he will have to follow instructions from the Prince on some things. Hope I’m completely wrong - but let’s see where we are after the transfer window on 1st Sept.

What if the plan is for Grbic will still be our No 1 and Wilder plans to give him a fresh start next season!
You'd have to either be blind to see that is not viable even in the division below.

OR

Grbic would have to have such a vast improvement in training to even merit this.

I'd be amazed if Grbic is our #1 next season, it's well documented Wilder fell out with Wes yet obviously put Wes back in recently due to Grbic being that bad. I wouldn't be surprised for us to do it on the cheap though either, a free agent (Danny Ward 🤮) or a loan, which would make the decision to let Wes go seem a bit ridiculous.

What makes you think it's our decision to let Wes go, when every indication is that we've been lowballing him on a new contract and he's turned it down?

I'd be amazed if we commit £8m for a keeper. If we are linked with other keepers, its either Johansson has already agreed somewhere else or we are trying to make it look like we have other viable options (not like us tbh). Someone like Sam Tickle fits the Wilder type, just picked up player of the year at Wigan, 22 years old, capped by England U21 last year. Can't image he'd be expensive.

Great call, no brainer for me, the lads got amazing reach, probably have to lose the bowler hat, but I’m sure we could work around that on match days.😉

Is that not pretty much the same thing? If we wanted him to stay we would've offered a decent contract, unless his demands were silly but that's hard to imagine as well

Semantics I suppose. There's a bit of a difference between the club offering joke terms, and the club being in a position to offer Wes what he would want but choosing not to do so

Let's fuck him off to other 1 of the United fucked up world teams

Agree, Wilder's got to tow the line now regarding the owner, there's nowhere else for him to go only down the divisions.

Could be both dependent on perspective
Indeed
On balance I prefer the club to offer terms that we can afford rather than what a(ny) player reckons they are ‘worth’
Don’t (most) contracts get signed when both (3?) parties are comfortable with an agreed (compromise) arrangement?
Except if it’s the (apocryphal?) Dirties signing of Seth Johnson ?

United offering Foderingham a contract in line with our status as a Championship club aiming to live within its means (I'd guess around £10k per week including bonuses) is miles off what he can expect as a 3rd choice at pretty much any Premier League club where his homegrown status will be valuable. I'd guess he'd be looking for £40k+ per week for what will probably be his last major contract, unless he can follow the Lee Grant/Scott Carson/Richard Wright path.

What makes you think we’ve been “lowballing him on a new contract” ?

We probably have to be fair!

Say we offered him new terms on £5K per week, (he's rumored to be on £12,500 at the moment so that probably isn't an unrealistic guess) he could go to another Championship side, (I'm sure someone would be interested) and get that £5K, probably more plus a decent signing on fee. Plus I bet we only offered him a 2 year deal, at most and at his age he probably wanted 3....

Not that I am remotely sorry to see him go!

Can't see why we pamper to someone like Wes, offer him a deal and stick to it, other teams are hardly breaking the door down to sign him, let him go and get another keeper in
