New Contract For Didsy

Summer 2021,Can't argue he's done well but it's a strange one given where the management want to be in that period.

Would imagine McGoldricks main priority is security (length of contract) above the actual wage.

So you can bet his agent will be insisting on a minimum 2 year deal, not 1 year.
If we did offer a 1 year extension then I reckon his agent will be saying he has offers elsewhere and I would think that would be the case with many clubs often willing to take a risk dishing out 1 year contracts.

To be fair he’s performed well this season, better/ more technical player than I expected and deserves his reward.

Didsy is, in the current vernacular, a baller. Elegant and composed, makes the game seem effortless at times. He's one of the players I tell my lads to keep an eye on when we go to games and explain what a difficult art it is to receive the ball in space, have 2 or 3 options in your head and choose the right one, something which he does more often than not. Yes he misses chances which is why he is with us and not a Premier league side, but he is one of several technically excellent players we have at the moment, and one of the reasons why watching the Blades is a joy again, as opposed to the chore it had become under previous regimes.
A well earned new deal.

Agree.

He's such a good footballer that he doesn't have to be used as one of two strikers either, he's a really good option as an advanced middy or 'number 10'. Another one in our squad who doesn't rely on athleticism so much in my opinion. If he stays fit, he's someone I could see maintaining (or even improving) his performance levels for another 2 seasons at least.

No concern with the contract extension. I'm really impressed with how he has knuckled down and proved himself with us - a freebie from Ipswich with injury problems in the summer. Now one of the championship's best all round attacking players. Fair play to him.

A no brainer. If we go up we can get a transfer fee for him, so that debate is superfluous. He's stillonly in his early thirties so he should be good to go for the next two seasons, at least as a squad player.I would still like two strikers to come in next season, but will we be in a position to do that?

I’ve always liked him as a player. And still do. But my biggest annoyance with him is his lack of urgency in certain instances in the opposition box. He often receives the ball and dwells - probably for around about the same amount of time you’re usually allowed when further back (and uses this ever-so-slightly longer time and space very, very well). Trouble is, centre-halves are usually straight in when players have their back to goal. He just doesn’t seem to realise he needs to turn quicker and run at them or move the ball on.

Took me till post 14 to know who you were talking about:oops:

Good news on the contract but we need to stop with this Didsy thing as it still means nothing to me:(

He needs 2 get his finger out now an get us up.

It’s a good job tying a guy down and protects us from losing a good player at the end of the season, I’m guessing he’s done a “Clarke” and took a lower wage for a longer contract..

He’s been great, and has a great all around game, somebody described him as prolific regarding goal scoring.. sorry, that header last week and prolific hardly go hand in hand do they..

Good player, great all around play, decent finisher.. But I’m more surprised than anything when it goes in.. could be a playoff hero, that’s football...

Billy is prolific, Deano was prolific.. there’s a difference.. it’s a good signing for right now..

If you look up ‘prolific’ in the dictionary it just says ‘Keith Edwards’.
