On saturday I think we played what we should play for the rest of the season. 2 up front is vital for us, especially when playing someone like Moore who has been cutting an isolated figure.

Cooper
Gilchrist Souttar Anel Burrows
Blaster Souza
Hamer Rak-Sakyi
Campbell Moore

Don’t quite know how the formation works in terms of how narrow/wide Hamer and Rak-Sakyi will be, but I think that 11 is what suits us the most.

That’s the team I am desperate to see on the starting lineup for the pig game.

What's wrong with changing shape during the game as it developes ! Flexibility is what's needed and with 5 subs now the opportunity is there if we have the players to do it.3

Yeah agreed, change throughout the game no prob just that’s how I’d like to see us start every game

I am still thinking there is a role for Brooks in our best XI. Since he has been out of the side, the actual chances we are creating has dropped. How and where with Rak-Sakyi on the right and the need to have more players on the field who can score ( Brooks still 0 career goals), I don't know. I would like to see what things look like with both Brooks and Rak-Sakyi starting.

Fortunately, Wilder has even more options available to him. Home and away still has different needs, but your choices are one way to go.
Maybe try something different away from home, or against a better side than Stoke.

Brooks has barely played for a couple months now, which I find completely baffling.

I'm sure someone said the other day, Shackleton has played more mins... that tells you all you need to know with Wilders thinking.

We did try something different away from home against Leeds, worst performance of the season so far?

I think some may be over rating Brooks. Like JRS his defensive positioning is often not good, so to have both on the pitch at the same time is dangerous unless we are comfortably winning.
Brooks seems incapable of crossing/passing with his right foot and reluctant to shoot.
He is a good part of the match day squad and may grow into a more permanent status but at present is not quite there.

Disagree on his defensive work, I think it's not bad at all. Also JRS defensive output has improved ten fold after his first couple of games.

All abaht opinions.

Against Stoke, the 4-4-2 worked. Whether it will work against every other team in the league is hard to say as other teams will be better than Stoke.

Though he didn't have the best game, Campbell and Moore played well as a pair supported by wingers, with 4-4-2 suiting certain players more than the 4-2-3-1 did, be interesting to see how Hamer plays on the left in this new formation.

----------------Cooper
Gilchrist-Souttar-Anel-Burrows
JRS-Arblaster-Souza-Hamer
------Moore-------Campbell

In a 4-4-2, that's probably our best lineup, but some competition (a ST and LW) would be helpful.

It’s usually a bore draw so a betting man would back that outcome.

I’m expecting a 1-0 defeat personally. It very rarely matters how much better we are than them or how much we create in the match. They have been very good at anti football in the Derby over the past 25 years and if they get a chance they will take it.

That's partly my observation of him this season, Brooks is very wasteful with the ball and always wants two extra touches before passing/shooting. As a result he gets closed down easily and his passes/shots just rebound off a defenders shin from one yard away. He needs to be more decisive and less hesitant. Rak-Sakyi has also been guilty of this. They both remind me a bit of Danny Webber where he would take on and beat a player then look lost as to what to do next. They're both young and Brooks was literally thrown in at the deep end, but I do also agree that a lot of fans talk him up and over rate him way too much.
