We have made a bright start to the season, 4 points out of 6 and the team hasn't performed as well as they can yet. So many online rumours of players leaving etc are making it depressing and the fact we seem to be in a financial crisis doesn't make it any easier but when you see how money has affected football it really is sad. The fans are now being made to pay extreme prices to fund players. Our season tickets at £300-£400 don't look that bad when you compare to some others, but is still far to much for League One football. If we average anywhere near 17,000-18,000 this season it will be a good effort, the loyalty of some of our supportersis incredible. 18,000 to see us play Shrewsbury and then 1500+ to go to a heartless bowl in Coventry is special support and we can all look forward to the away games such as Brentford where we can create an atmosphere. Football is slowly dying. Kids would rather watch Manure on TV than watch United or Wednesday gaes. I love my football but what is happening is sad.

Good stuff pal.

I think that £300 is good value for 23 games, the problem is that somehow players have been allowed for various reasons to take home unsustainable wages.

I pay Sky and admit to really enjoying the football coverage so part of the problem.

I personally go to BDTBL for a beer and chat with the lads hoping to see some passing - only a very loose connection with the players and club these days and result largely irrelevant. A few big days out away and I still enjoy my football in many ways.

I think plenty more feel similar until one year they will pack in. As you say the kids of today - apart from a few like CooperBlade Junior - are not interested. MInd you, seeing the kids playing in the parks there is an alarming rise in the number wearing Wendy kits.

I actually saw a kid in Dronfield wearing a Wendy kit yesterday - I mean, in Dronfield! Is there nothing sacred left in this life?

I do slate the moaners from time to time but in all fairness its little wonder supporters get so irate with our club and indeed football in general. I've tried to maintain a positive stance on things in recent weeks but reading comments about Quinn leaving has depressed me this morning.....even if it came as no surprise.

It's coming to something when two players we gave long contracts to have to sit out because we cant afford to put them on the pitch. Deary me what a mess. All this alongside the fact that we're clearly so unattractive to investors that we have to go cap in hand with the promise that they dont have to buy the stadium.

I wonder if Santander would be kind enough to do a co-op and write off the loan?????

You know what I find most "alarming", it's taking the dog for a walk every lunchtime and evening across my local playing fields and NOT SEEING any kids playing football at all (unless it's an organised training session from some team or other).
What the fuck is happening? Where are they all? All I ever see is other dog walkers and a couple of teens on a skate park, not one group of kids, with a football, having a kick around (jumpers for goalpost etc.). The worlds gone mad.

Its cos they have so much more to do than we did years ago.

Closest I got to a video game was 2 minutes on the ping pong tennis thing in Cole Brothers TV department before being turfed off cos I wasn't going to buy.

More likely to find the kids hanging around outside the local shops thinking they are "gangsta" no wonder half the kids today are lard arses.
We used to go home from school have tea and by 6.00pm be on the local school field until dark and we could no longer see the ball. It was the end of the world if the ball went pop then everyone would go on a tizer bottle hunt till we had enough to refund for a new football. As kids we were never seen in the good weather the trouble started when it pissed down and the field was a sea of mud or when it was dark nights, then the games would be putting bangers through letterboxes or nicking eggs from the grocers and pelting the bus conductors as they went past our hide out in the derelict houses. If we did stay in we would be playing subbuteo until a fight broke out because some kids star striker accidentally on purpose got trod on.

Brings me back to the point of school fields that I mentioned on another thread. All of them in my area in the last 4 years have been closed off with high fencing and to get into any after hours you would need to pole vault the fence. These are places I went to when I was younger to have a kick around with mates. I see none of the kids in my area anymore rushing up the road in the evening to have a game of football.

I am totally different to that.

The beer and chat before the game is great. However, the result is more important to me than that. I would happily trade the pre-game "ritual" for premiership football.

Well before you could play football nowadays you would need to search the field for used needles, I can see why they are fenced off :( ................ an utter waste of a facility that should be there for the community. The school caretaker used to try chasing us off or maybe he'd phone the coppers  ................ at that time they rode Ariel motor bikes we could here them coming five miles away LOL :D

Yeah - I hear you Mic. Years back I'd have been with MattB, but once the years roll on, the 'lifestyle' takes root; well has for me at least...

o_O Not me unless I HAVE to...

Thankfully, such does serve to remind me that living in Bradford does have it's benefits - no Wendy shirts in sight...

It wasn't at all like that at boarding school, I can tell you. We just used to bum each other.

Cheers Kenilworth - Never picked that one up - I shall have hours of fun contributing to that!

Yep - it's a good entertaining read that one is.
Bert started it - mild mannered chap that he is - he just wanted to get stuff off his chest.
