went on to become a Spurs legend?

Near misses:

Watford scored first when we beat them 4-1 in our 1990 promotion season but Agana scored the equaliser just before half time.

Hull were 1-0 up at HT on Boxing Day 1986 but we won 4-2, not 4-1.

Away from home, as well as Chesterfield last year we also won 4-1 after losing 1-0 at HT at Notts County on Boxing Day 1988.

stood at side of chivers in a night club after spurs played blades in a evening match, he was f****** huge, built like a brick shithouse

Chivers didnt play well in the only England full international match I ever saw. England v Poland in October 1973! Never played for England again after that

We are going to go down 1-0 to Burton and win 8-1
and the half time team talk will be;
'Did you see how John Brayford was acting like the toughest dog in the world when he walked out of here?'

Martin Chivers story.

I once booked Tommy Docherty as the after dinner speaker at a company dinner. One of his stories was about the fact that, before signing a player, he would always seek the opinion of his good friend Bill Shankly.

So, on this occasion he rings Shanks and says " Bill, it's Tommy - I'm thinking of signing a new striker and I wondered what you think about him "

Shanks " And who would that be, laddie ?"

Tommy. " Big Martin Chivers "

Shanks " Aye, a very deceptive player "

Tommy. " In what way, Bill "

Shanks " He's even slower than he looks ! "

Yes

Team was Shilton, Madeley, Hughes, Bell, McFarland, Hunter, TC, Channon, Chivers, Clarke and Peters. Hector came on for Chivers in the dying minutes and nearly scored the winner

Even though we didn't qualify for the WC that time round, there was more quality in that team than the current England side...

Did he get the "Who's up Mary Brown" treatment?

Had we qualified then TC wouldnt have been in the squad because he got injured in March 1974 that required a knee operation.

Speaking of Notts County - they went 2 nil down last Friday but came back to win 4 - 2 in the cup. Have we ever done that?

I remember us coming from 2 nil down to win 3 - 2 a few times (Shammers at home, Preston at home, Watford and Colchester away spring to mind) but I can't think of a 4 - 2.

We came from 2 nil down to lead Birmingham 4 - 2 in one match but that finished 4 all. The only other 4 2 wins I can think of are Gillingham (I think) in about 1988 where we went 4 nil up and a decent Sunday in late September :-) but cant think of a 4 - 2 comeback.

7-2 against Oldham in the ZDS Cup in December 1990!

I can only think of a time when it happened against us: we were winning 2-0 at Norwich after about 10 minutes in 2000-1, but it was 2-2 by half time and we lost 4-2.

The most important thing about that game? Monty made his debut as a second half sub.

Rent a gob Clough....The sight of Alf Ramsey walking across the pitch alone to certain sack...Revie came in and it went seriously tits-up from there. England didn't quality for a WC until 1982, under Ron (safe pair of hands) Greenwood.

We played them again a day or two later if I remember correctly (I rarely do). That’s what happened around Christmas time in those days. We were 3-1 up as I recall then Chivers got two late on to equalise.

Silent Blade, kindly confirm or correct, as you always helpfully do...

That game sticks in my mind as we went up in the upper tier of the Lane end, which was a one off...Can't remember much about the game though unfortunately.
