Need for a target man in final 10 mins

It appears that Wilder's strategy is to defend a lead in the last 10 minutes and he swaps attackers for defenders to achieve it.

Tonight was a good example of the team getting pushed back but, after Madine left, there was no target man to hold the clearance and so the ball just kept coming back.

It's clear that our defence is not good when it's placed under intense pressure so should the lesson from tonight be to keep a target man up front to hold the ball.

I remember that's what Warnock used the Chief for and it worked.

Someone will make the calculation of how many points we've dropped in the last 10 minutes. My guess is that it's around 10.

Madine was knackered, he couldn’t have made 90 minutes. He’s played a combined 2 games all season.

The issue was terrible goalkeeping, rather than the other reasons. If hendo does not bottle the cross they don’t score and don’t get up a head of steam, and don’t get 3 goals.

If he comes for the cross with his fist with conviction, he makes a connection and they don’t score. Instead he flapped, not sure he was looking at the ball honestly, and never got near it.

Krull and Westwood would have made sure the ball was theirs, to name but 2, but hendo lacks physical presence and he bottled it. There is no substitute for experience and he lacks it. The second was a very poor error, but without the first we are probably not under the same pressure and it never happens.

All the hype of premier league clubs plus some in Europe looking at him will be subsiding very quickly, he is a good shot stopper, but not good on crosses. Not sure Ramsdale would not have been as good if we still had him.

Hendo has fucked up on the first, but the issue for the others was absolutely terrible defending. No-one is picking up either elphick, or their number 6 from the free kick on the second. No way should elphick have been able to even get a shot off.
