If we can get 4 or 6 points off a very strong looking Potters team and fast improving Wigan then I think we will be in contention at the seasons end. These little moments in a season can do a lot to ascertain how it will pan out.

To be honest, you could argue that every week is a season defining week.
I’m sure we’ll be in and around the top 6 virtually all season.

The massive factor for me is who we bring in during the January transfer window.

Last season, on paper it was a great window, we brought in every target Wilder identified.
We were all feeling confident for the 2nd half but our new signings never worked out meaning no improvement.

We should be looking at a minimum of 10 points, as a worst case scenario.

Derby: 1pt
Stoke: 1pt
Wigan: 3 pts
Forest: 1 pt
Wednesday: 1 pt
Rotherham: 3 pts
Brentford: 0 pt

We need to keep in touch if not in front and this week is a great opportunity so agree with the op UTB

I don't think 4pts is enough, given we got none on Saturday. We should be aiming for 6 this week, with anything less a real disappointment.

However, getting all 6 will of course be really tough.

Always aim for 6.

But I would take the 4 now if offered. Two very though home fixtures coming up.

It's going to be nip and tuck all season. I'd take 4 points, it's a tough run of games. We've a bit of breathing space with the runs we've put together but obviously once you're up there you get greedy and want to stay there! Although Stoke haven't really got going yet they probably have the best squad in the league. Hopefully coming to us isn't their Fulham turning point of last season!

I think there'll be quite a few more defining factors along the way as well what happens this week but yeah, keep on/around the 2 points a game average and we'll remain on track. Having said that, 2 wins wouldn't make us certs and 2 defeats wouldn't put us out of the race either :)

This is a must win after Saturday. Can I have a job on Talksport please?

Must win against the pre season promotion favourites who have on paper better players then us.

The problem with tonight’s game is that to a degree it’s out of our hands. If Stoke play their best then we’ll struggle tonight no matter what we try.

Fortunately Stoke seem to be believing their own hype and have generally been poor with only small patches when they’ve played well.

Most on here have been around a bit and like me have seen the blades in many a promising position only to
Fluff it (league one champions the exception) so just for once it would be wonderful if we could open up a small gap at the top of the table, sustain it and go up as champs.... now that would be something.

Win one lose one is better than being unbeaten with two draws, lets all remember that and not get our knickers in a twist if we only get three points.

I was alarmed by the drop off 2nd half against Derby and if we pick up where we left off we will get 0 points.

How we start will be vital in setting the tone for the next two games. We can’t start like we did first 10 against Derby otherwise Stoke will be 1-0 up and close the game out.

I’ve said it before. No matter what CW thinks we haven’t got the calibre of players to deliberately play for a 1-0 win or protect a narrow score line.

We only have one successful way of playing and that’s attack, attack, attack and we need to create several chances to convert 2 because we nearly always concede.

If we have a 2 goal lead with 10-15 to go we can try to manage the game out but a 1 goal lead or draw and we need to keep attacking until the final whistle.
